It's Opening Day at Wrigley Field, with Cade Cavalli on the mound and the Nationals hoping to get a transformational 2026 season off to a positive start
Let’s go Nats!!! On my flight to Chicago as I type this, got tix for the Saturday and Sunday games. Excited to see such an iconic ballpark and excited for another season of baseball!
Same. I want get to him 100 PAs and see if last September's production was for real. If it was, then he should be the starting SS and move Abrams to 2B. (or, you know, trade him before he costs anything since talent is something to get rid of)
Nationals.tv is offline. An hour before game time. That's pathetic. You're in the Major Leagues - try to look like it. You could rerun 2019 post season games, if nothing else.
According to the Weather Channel, Morning high of 70F with temps falling sharply to near 45. N winds at 5 to 10 mph, increasing to 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 100%. If the wind comes from the North it should be blowing in from centerfield. At 30 mph it would be very difficult to hit a HR. If this weather happens playing Young and Wiemer in the outfield makes sense. Wood better be on his toes.
I remember a few years back when we opened at Wrigley and Zim hit what would have been a HR in June, but it blew back into center field. He was not happy (plus it was cold on top of the wind).
Since MLB is doing the TV distribution, an obvious opportunity to replace the “Next Game Telecast” placeholder with content (MLB?) that MASN does not hold the rights to (if that is an issue). Even MiLB games when live? Bet they are in crisis mode. Just glad to see channel 641 in my DirecTV guide today (last night it was not).
I am completely intrigued to see what happens this year while expecting this team to lose 100 games and maybe more. I just don't see nearly enough talent at hand, either on the big league roster or in the minors, to even be competitive and that's before injuries and poor performances kick in.
We can hope to see progress from the handful of young players who matter on the roster, starting with Cavalli. But more important, I want to see how Butera handles this massive leap forward in his career and the same for his coaching staff.

Somewhere Dylan Crews is looking at that lineup and asking himself some hard questions.
or not . . .
Behind enemy lines in Chicago, let's go Nats!!
Neither of the duplicates are starting - not surprising given a lefty is starting.
Game Thread Number One!
No Garcia today to start. A lefty going for the Cubs.
It's going to take awhile to get used to these lineups.
According to predictions none of them will ever be the same.
I guess if this line up works the child will be seen as a genius
I am here for everyday player Nasim Nunez. Let's go.

I hope the rain holds off and the Nats get the CURLY W to start the season!
Butera show me your ways, one day in and already intrigued by the lineup

Hope they rectify that. Especially because they've been flogging it like nobody's business for weeks.
I got an email this morning for a 50% discount for SPH.
EDIT:
And just received this from Comcast. I appreciate the notice although most Nats fans have been all over it for a few days now.

They come on air 15 min before the game
Their broadcasts have never been on t-60 on mlb.tv. or did they announce they would carry the pre-game?

Had the same thought. That's a lot of space to fill.
Nats or non-Nats features would be welcomed.
especially when there are 20 years of games to show!
Earlier, Mark said to expect the same bare bones production. 15-minute pregame with Alexa, 30-minute postgame with same. Otherwise, black.
mlb.tv subscribers have access to milb.tv where you can see all the farm teams. I believe the 'Chester opens tomorrow.
Looks like my Xfinity stream has NatsTV on 1261. Great news! Let's Go Nats!

Buckle up, kids.
I'm open to anything with the new regime but Wood hitting leadoff always feels odd
