No more Mikolas por favor

At the risk of being a Negative Nancy, I'd love to see Mikolas get shelled today.

Maybe they will then realize that (1) he's simply Not Good (2) a sunk cost is a sunk cost and (3) Mitchell Parker - while also Not Good - is less Not Good than he is.

Andrew Alvarez was just named MiLB Pitcher of the Week.

Let’s hope meatball Mikolas improves his ranking most likely to get DFA’d list.

Just drove up from Ocean City for my third Nats game of the year and first at Nats Park in 2026! Miles Mikolas please do not ruin my day too much

I’ve already lost the pencil to my scorebook and we’re 1.5 hours to first pitch…not off to a promising start

How many starts does mikolas get before DFA

I don't expect this to be a popular comment, because I know he is a fan favorite due to his effort and defensive prowess... But Nasim Nuñez needs to start showing more with his bat to justify playing nearly every day. A .482 OPS is not going to cut it at the big league level. He has no extra base hits and he doesn't exactly have a track record that says he's definitely going to turn things around. Not saying replace him immediately, but the other candidates to fill in at 2B are all swinging a better bat at the moment. Something to monitor.

He’s a utility guy and still had the second most bases stolen as of last night.

If he hits about .245, he might lead the league in steals.

As many stolen bases as he has hits is impressive

Thanks largely to his fielding and 7 stolen bases, the latter tied for the MLB lead with Bobby Witt, Jr., Nunez has accumulated a .3 WAR in only 9 games. At this pace, his total WAR for a 162 game season would be 5.4. That's excellent -- an All-Star!

I, for one, am rooting for Mikolas to surprise us all and have a good start. Doesn't mean I expect it. But whatever is good for the Nats is what I'll hope for.

I'd love the same. Some 5 and a fraction innings, 3 runs starts, which would give him an ERA in the high fours like he had last year, while Alvarez and Cornelio get a few more weeks of AAA experience, would do nicely.

Where the heck is Brad Lord?! I get he's great starter depth but his big beautiful right arm is needed in the mid to late innings!

My guess is that they are holding Lord for relieving the probable Mikolas implosion in the third or fourth inning today.

If no one is suggesting that Mikolas' job is on the line, let me be the first.

Jonathan Ruddo's avatar

he ceased having use the second we signed Littell. I’d rather have a revolving door of AAA pitchers getting rocked every 5 days than trotting a 37 year old journeyman out to have the same thing done for barely more money

And we're underway on a chilly-but-gorgeous, 52-degree Wednesday afternoon on South Capitol Street.

They brought in Mikolas to mentor the young pitchers. Could that explain the bullpen performance? Just askin’.
