With our much-maligned bullpen getting a day off yesterday, today’s game could be huge in swinging our fate for the next week or so. A deep outing from Irvin could get all our high leverage arms (all 1.5 of them!) back to a hundred percent and help avoid the late game bullpen implosions that have been killing us. a 3 inning performance from Irvin like Mikolas probably sets us on course for a 2-5/1-6 record these two road series

I just want to see some good pitching, sone quality ABs that results in plenty of runs, and a clean game from the defense! I don't think that is asking too much! GO NATS!!

Hmmm. Maybe a LITTLE too much. How about adequate pitching, adequate ABs with sufficient runs, and no game-altering defensive errors, all of which result in a Curly W? :-)

Go, Nats!!

I was watching Harrisburg while waiting for this game. Sam Brown nailed a three run homer.

What s nice start against an opener!!!

That's not how the Brewers drew it up.

Can see why they wanted Mead

Wegner’s behind the plate. His accuracy on challenges is 1.39 which means few of his calls have been overturned. I would be conservative with challenges.

A first inning run or two is always a nice thing. Giving up three in the first inning, not a nice thing, especially on only 1 hit, but 3 BBs.

Some really quality ABs in the top of the first, obviously headlined by Wood, Mead and Abrams. But even the outs were quality ABs.

Glad to see offense woke up nicely after napping on Wed

FOUR PITCH WALK well THE CHANGES WITH THE NATIONALS HAVE BEEN MULTIFOLD

Any thoughts about the first half of that inning?

Irvin does so SUCK

Lordy, from the vantage point of my sofa, it looks like Irvin is absolutely wild tonight. Doesn't seem to have command of a single breaking pitch. 4-seamer not really much better.

Brad Lord must stay in the pen simply because we need a dynamite long man with how our starters cannot go deep into a game. we simply wouldn’t be able to option/promote enough guys to keep arms fresh without forfeiting Rochester games

Sign anyone. Giolito? Tyler Anderson? Frankie Montas?

Walks will kill you.

What happened to the new Jake Irvin who was going to attack hitters and focus on quality, not quantity? Three walks in the first inning. My God. Is anyone holding these guys accountable?

MacMom54's avatar

Are we up to 5 now?

Back to back Ks, followed by a four pitch, non-competitive walk. He's trying to do something that he's not accomplishing, yanking it glove side.

I miss the old Milwaukee County Stadium. Back in the day Bernie the Brewer would slide down a beer shaped chalet after homers.

Saw a game there in 2000, in what was supposed to be their last year at County, then the crane collapse at Miller Park happened. Game was a Bernie Brewer cap giveaway. My wife still has hers.

County Stadium was a cool little joint.

That’s where Harvey Haddix pitched his gem.
