I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a DH batting 9th

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

He did it earlier this season. I can't remember who it was.

April 5th, Tena DH against Dodgers

Smart of Butera putting Luis Garcia at DH in the 9 hole. Chances are Mlodzinski will be in the game by the time he comes up to bat.

I just want the offense to keep scoring 5 - 7 runs, and the pitching continue to improve for both the starter and the 'pen. GO NATS!!

I’m not going to question the lineup decisions as long as they keep scoring like this. Whatever Butera does is working so far.

This is a generous description of Irvin's last outing. He absolutely could not find the strike zone with his breaking pitches and was at 80 pitches (with 5 walks and 3 runs allowed) after 3 1/3 innings.

He did manage to record 5 more outs throwing almost exclusively fastballs before hitting 100 pitches but I will be watching tonight through my fingers. The Bucs will be hunting fastballs.

Last time a team tried an opener against us, it failed and messed up their bullpen usage for the following game. Hopefully the same happens today

Ryan O'Hearn:) and please tell management to cut bait with Mikolas:)

Wonder if he was thinking of Tyler O'Neill, O'Hearn's teammate with the O's last year.

(Yeah, I used to get them confused, too)

I really like Jackie Robinson day. The simple act of everyone wearing the same number without their own names is very powerful

Meanwhile, down on the farm:

Dylan Crews, 2-4 with a HR today. Currently has a .798 OPS at Rochester.

In Harrisburg, Seaver King knocked in 5 last night, OPS of .938, and 3B Cayden Wallace hitting .357 with a 1.154 OPS.

At Wilmington, Devin Fitz-Gerald is at .314 with a .901 OPS, and OF Ethan Petry is hitting .357 with a .967 OPS.

And Eli Willits hit his first professional homer today for the FredNats.

Willits was an inside the park and he flew around the base path

After the spring training he had, a .798 OPS from Crews is very encouraging. I am also glad it is being driven by a strong walk rate and OBP. Power comes and goes, but working good at-bats is forever. Also, Cayden Wallace's OPS is coming out of nowhere for me. This is a big statement for him.

Dave Nemec's avatar

Yeah, Wallace really struggled last year. Nice to see him putting things together.

HR was opposite field off a 1st pitch fastball

And we're underway on a muggy, 82-degree Wednesday evening here in Pittsburgh. I know it's even hotter in D.C. right now. Certainly not what anyone is used to feeling in mid-April in either city.

Was watching the pregame on streaming and it went dead tried to get it back and I got the video mlb jingle o repeat. When I could finally figure out how to get it back ( not at all logical or intuitive) Daylen Lile was up (3rd batter). Has anyone else had this problem. Hope I can cancel my streaming subscription.

My streaming has been fine

Thanks. Lucky you.

Sorry about yours tho

That 3rd out seems to be the hardest out to get for Irvin (and many other pitchers around the league).

cipherlockinexile's avatar

Ozuna has chosen the Nats to break out of his slump.

natsclop's avatar

Sometimes we bloop them to death, and sometimes the baseball gods say it must be reverse

CBinDC's avatar

They should use an opener with Irvin also all of this with TWO OUTS and TWO STRIKES

This got ugly fast just as it was all about to end.
