How about a clean defensive game, some good offense against Lopez, and a really good start from Griffin? I can go for that!

GO NATS!!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️

Jacob Young in the three-hole, now I've seen everything; said with some affection but also lingering disbelief.

Nunez batting 6th might be the biggest surprise with the lineup...

No kidding! He is leading a bit of a charmed life now. Last night, an error and an 0-fer.

Glad that Lopez is healthy again. That said, can't wait for the Nats to rough him up good tonight

Mark, do you think that Butera would ever consider batting Wood in the second or third spot?

Geordie Keitt's avatar

LLR,LLS,LLS - just breaking up the lefties into sets of three.

Geordie Keitt's avatar

I guess that means if you hit R or S you can go either 3, 6, or 9, there’s no other spot for you. Seems a little restrictive - an unintended consequence of the 3-batter rule? Or just a zealous application of the “no easy pockets” guideline?

We happen to have more left-handed batters in the regular starting rotation meaning you mix the righties in between. I'd rather have Young in the third slot then Nunes or Milas.

Mark — do you read anything into Millas starting back to back, or is he just hitting that much better as a lefty than Ruiz?

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

Butera did say he prefers to start Millas vs. righties and Ruiz vs. lefties when possible. Hence Millas starting back-to-back games. Ruiz will start tomorrow vs. Martin Perez. We'll see if he comes right back to start Thursday afternoon against Chris Sale.

I went to Lopez's Nats debut years ago (also Giolito's). As I recall he got lit up in the top 1st. Might have been the Dodgers? He then settled down.

Let's tee off on him tonight.

I have a Giolito jersey from the night of his debut! I haven’t worn it since….

Alexa just did an interview with Miles Mikolas. I know he has not been great, but he seems like a very nice, intelligent guy. She asked great questions. He gave great answers. It was a great interview.

She asked what he brought back from his time in Japan. I’d have said a Shiba Inu (or 10!)😊. I sure wish they’d give her a bigger role in the broadcast.

And we all know by now, he hates Crocs.

I'd rather they merge her in with Charlie and Dave as the team broadcast crew. Her on field pre and post game interviews would put a neat bow on their broadcast

BassMan's avatar

As I am out of market, I am very grateful for Charlie and Dave.

Hondo's avatar

That would be worth a try, I guess.

On second thought, her being photogenic and knowledgeable plays well for pregame tv. I bet her knowledge and interview skills would make her great on a post game call in show like Phil Wood used to do.

By the way, when he retires I bet Miklos would be good in a play by play booth.

And we're underway on a 62-degree Tuesday evening.

Laz Diaz 2

Drew Millas 0

Ronald Acuna Jr. 0

david behnke's avatar

Nobody had that on their Bingo card

david behnke's avatar

Who thought Laz would be right 2 times in a row on challenges

BassMan's avatar

Maybe it's time Butera shuts down early challenges prior to the 6th inning.

david behnke's avatar

And on cue Wood wins one

BassMan's avatar

Hopefully a good omen. I know it's Laz Diaz but unless there are runners on base I would still hold off early in a game.

Zim and Kolko in the booth and Franny in the camera well. I like it. Interesting way to do a three man booth, but I repeat, please get Alexa more involved in the broadcast. Zim seems more confident and involved being one on one with Kolko.

That was a good challenge. Not even close.
