Should be a much bigger crowd than last night. The sun has come out, the weather is beautiful and I know I am not the only one who looked at the forecast and exchanged tickets from last night to tonight.

Uh oh…pitchers who they’ve never seen before always give the Nats problems. Or was that last year? 🥸

"Nobody on <other team> has ever faced <Nats pitcher> before..."

I love when the announcers say that. It's like they're unaware that conversely, the Nats' pitcher has never faced anyone on the opposing team.

Good pitching, clean defense, and more offense again would be great tonight! GO NATS!!

Let's greet the new pitcher rudely! Keep it up on the Braves

The pitching change is interesting. I wonder if the Braves, knowing how much the Nats staff use analytics to make the lineup, and how much the batters use legacy data to be effective hitters this year, have sprung a relatively unknown (high prospect) to neutralize what has been hugely successful so far for the Nats. Data. #runonsentence

Just saw the interview with Simon Mathews and I must say I was impressed with his over all approach and attitude

The new management has definitely quelled a lot of worries and concerns about their age and inexperience. Not all of them, some can only be revealed in time (or during a long losing streak), but so far they have all conducted themselves as wiser beyond their years.

Let's pause for a little baseball schedenfraud. According to the MLB standings chart, the Mets L10 record is 0-10 with a L12 streak, which means, over the last ten games, the Mets have managed to lose 12.* How 'bout dem Mets?

*Kinda sorta not really but kinda sorta really too

I read somewhere that no team that has had a 12 game losing streak has ever made the playoffs. Did not try to confirm the accuracy of that statement.

It's a splendid, 72-degree Wednesday evening in D.C. as we get underway.

Ok that’s out of the way

Maybe just stop pitching to Baldwin.

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

Why not? They avoid Wood as much as possible.

Bernie Gilbert's avatar

Or pitch him like Bob Gibson or Don Drysdale would...

Check swing hit by Wood.

Bernie Gilbert's avatar

Was that a failed check swing by Wood that happened to get out of the infield? Because I can't believe he did that deliberately.

Tegwar's avatar

Yes, he hit it that hard on a check swing.

Looked like a ball

Or an unbelievable hit

Really nice AB for Lile.

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

Really nice result, too.

Great approach(es) all around again! 35 pitches and counting by the Braves’ starter!
