Over or Under 1.5 homeruns off Littel from Soto.

baseball-birthdays's avatar

Juan only has one on the season so far... I'll take the over.

Hard to believe (for me at least), Juan's now in his ninth major league season.

Tegwar's avatar

Soto's been injured he's only played 13 games. Lindor, Alvarez and Bo Bichette just aren't hitting. Soto if healthy is still a real threat.

"Soto's been injured he's only played 13 games."

I am aware of that, but thanks.

Tegwar's avatar

Okay, just mentioning it. I like Soto I don't hold anything against him. We traded him and got a lot of good players.

Dave Nemec's avatar

Under, because he'll only face him twice.

I was looking at the stats from AAA Rochester and it’s definitely seems like there are a couple guys knocking on the door to the major leagues but it’s not the couple guys you’d think it would be.

I was hoping Yoyo Morales would have shown better in Spring Training and made the club as the RHH 1B. It appears that he wants another chance for that job again.

Meanwhile, reading about Boston (and now Philly) firings, John Henry has not talked to the press since 2020 and the Mookie Betts trade? And who thinks the Lerners don’t talk enough?

TheWerthWhisperer's avatar

Looks like the “star studded” Mets lineup ends after the two hole,

They have more black holes than stars.

Note on the Phillies firing. Don Mattingly is the interim skipper. Alex Cora was offered the job and turned it down.

Don Mattingly, who is the father of his new boss!

I assume somebody's going to ask Toboni about his former club?

Not for nothing, the Red Sox lost Toboni to the Nats. The Phillies lost Kilambi to the Nats. Next thing you know, they both get off to terrible starts and fire their remaining staffs.

This either reflects well on Toboni and Kilambi, or reflects poorly on Toboni and Kilambi. 🤷‍♂️

Dave Nemec's avatar

Reflects well, since both teams were good when they were there, but fell into the toilet after they left.

I would like to think that if Toboni builds a "scouting and player development monster" in DC, that it wouldn't collapse the minute he is recruited away to another team.

It would be quite sweet for the Nats to win a few games this series!

The Nats have the opportunity this series to make their young manager move from fourth to third in the NL East Consecutive Games Managed (Active) category.

Not a complaint, just an observation: House is a good defender at 3B, so I don't get DHing him and putting Vivas at third. Wouldn't the inverse work better?

Nats Fan in Exile's avatar

Don’t disagree. Regarding Brady, I think there is also a growing watch item. It is early still, but for all the talk about Brady being a different hitter this year, his avg is .235. Last year? .234

(granted his OPS is up a bit to .654 from .574)

Dave Nemec's avatar

Interesting. I personally believe OPS is a more valuable stat than BA, so that rise shows improvement.

Testudonal Fortitude's avatar

He’s actually having a poor year in fielding. House currently ranks 30th out 34 in Fielding Runs Value among 3Bs who have played at keast 100 inning.

Thanks, I did not know that.

Looking at the Savant page for Holmes, he's been nearly untouchable this season. Has thrown only ONE 4-seamer all year. It's all sinkers, sweepers, cutters, changeup, curve, and lots of effective inside pitches (to both sides). He'll be a real challenge for the Nats' newly-discovered plate discipline. Should be fun.

Tim OBrien's avatar

With Holmes on the mound, this is going to be tough for the Nats to win. AND BTW: Since 2024 the Nats are 2-10 at Citi Field and since 2021 they are 10-28....no bueno.... But we play the games for a reason. Let's Go Nats!!!

Tegwar's avatar

Hope the Nats come in with real discipline tonight. Hits are going to be scarce, so they’ve got to grind out at bats, work counts, draw walks, and take every free base they can get. The sooner they can get Holmes out of the game the better. And honestly, no base running mistakes would be nice too.

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

Mikolas has shown improvement in his last two "bulk" appearances, so it's now (past) time for Littell to do the same in his starting role. "Get right", Zack! Go, Nats!!

And we're underway on an overcast, 57-degree Tuesday night. Also, here's the link to the Toboni article. He addressed a bunch of topics: https://natsjournal.com/p/toboni-addresses-roster-churn-cornelio

Dave Nemec's avatar

No. No, it’s not.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

what are the odds on a back-to-back jack with Soto? I'd be happy with a pop up to an infielder.

david behnke's avatar

Nice call for a pop up
