Just one question. With Mikolas and Littrell not able to viable starters. Why is Alvarez not up in the Majors? While not a traditional starting candidate, he has been credible and allowed the team to be competitive when he has had the opportunity.

We're just making the turn to May; that's not a big sample size. I'd guess Mikolas will get a little more rope -- through May, maybe? -- before the Nats give up on him and let a Parker, Alvarez, or Cornelio another shot. He's only costing them $2M so his leash, I'd guess, is shorter than Littell's. Littell got a late start AND he's getting paid $7M. I'd guess he'll get at least through June before they pull the plug. Hopefully he becomes the innings eater they thought they were getting.

Little is effectively in spring training. So, you're right. He gets more time to shake things out.

Littell signed March 10 and was already on a ST throwing program. I can accept he was a few weeks behind but it's now April 30. The "late signing" excuse has run it's course. He really needs to start showing up.

Does House need a day off? I don’t get it. We’re beating a dead horse.

gonatsgo1's avatar

Me neither. House needs to play 3rd every day (with some time off now and then but not every 2-3 games). Vivas = eyes on you.

I know it's still early, but:

Brady's OPS vs LHP: .977

Brady's OPS vs RHP: .512

Interesting note in ex-Nats news...

Ildemaro Vargas has 22 straight games with a hit to open the '26 season. He's moving up the ranks in the record books. George Sisler holds the record of 34 straight games.

Unless Mikolas really surprises us, we will probably see Mitchell Parker by the 4th inning.

Gonna need some really good offense, pretty clean defense, and the better trending version of Mikolas today to end this road trip with a CURLY W. Just hoping for that to come together this afternoon!

Gloomy day here in the park with small crowd to boot. Nothing intimidating about atmosphere, that’s for sure…

And we're underway on a gray, 54-degree Thursday afternoon in Flushing.

Batting a fast CF 9th, kinda looks like when DM did that with Victor Robles

Nice home run robbery by Wood of Soto.

I love how nonchalant Wood was making that catch.

What's that, THREE of those? Almost routine LOL

James Wood with the casual home run robbery of Juan Soto. From generation to generation.

Now that was some sweet action!

Now that was the most ho-hum home run robbery I’ve ever seen. It was fun and chuckle worthy. Wood’s nonchalant response was priceless and put a smile on my face as big as his.

That was aggressive base running but it paid off.
