How about an offensive explosion this evening. Everybody's attitude would gain from a well-played game from the first inning on, until the rain arrives, this evening.
If/when he appears, Kent will be the Nationals' 23rd different pitcher this season. Believe it or not, the Orioles (25) and White Sox (24) have actually used more.
Would it be fair (or, perhaps, accurate) to say that the Nats are auditioning pitchers and looking for keepers on an ongoing basis? If it is, I wonder how and when that might involve position players? Or do they like who they have at this point?
Let’s put the Curse of the Haunted Stadium back into its creepy music box and WIN THIS THING
Mission f’in accomplished guys

Mark, are you or is anyone keeping track of the number of relief pitchers the Ants have used so far this year?
Is there a new team I have not heard of?
Ants, Gnats, some sort of insect name....
There used to be a minor league club called the Savannah Sand Gnats.
In fact they were a Nationals affiliate in 2005-06 (and the Expos for two years before that).
Mark's family may do it differently, but I once saw my aunts use at least 5 pitchers to serve our family iced tea and lemonade on Indpendence Day.

And we're underway on an overcast, 72-degree Wednesday evening at Nats Park.
Mikolas was his own opener. Good job.
I give it until the third before it starts to get dicey.
Maybe the fourth.
Hey his ERA is under 8 now, baby steps.
Yes! How about we hope for the 4th?!
All right, fellas. Your SP just gave you a 1-2-3 top of the first. How about giving him some runs?
Go, Nats!!
Great start for Mikolas
Boy, I thought that 3rd out was going to be tough, but Mikolas came through with 2Ks around a ground out. Good start!
Well that was promising
Geez, Wood’s front side flew way open on that K.
Well that was a rats fart of a start
You are such an insightful, incisive and constructive fountain of analysis and commentary, Eyore. You bring such positivity to this blog
6 up, 6 down, 3 strikeouts on 24 pitches for Mikolas ...
Shhh….😄
Just like a real pitcher.
Mikolas keeping the ball down but a little too much in the center of the plate.
Mikolas through 2 on only 24 pitches. Is this going to be a pitchers dual or a batters non-dual?
At this pace the game will be over in less than an hour and half.
It seems to me the Nationals are less patient at home?
2 outs on the 1st pitch, then the 3rd out on 4 pitches. 6 pitch inning? Way to give Mikolas a break!
