No time like the present to start a new winning streak, fellas. Your SP tonight has been showing some improvement. Back him up with some "improved" defense and timely hitting, why dontcha?

Go, Nationals!!

Frankenhoff John's avatar

Yep. And the Reds lineup has been weak (with the exception of 1B and SS).

Still no faith in meatball Mikolas.

LEE MCDOWELL's avatar

Yes, and in the bandbox called Great American Stadium (I think). Fingers crossed tonight.

Maybe hope and charity will be available tonight. :-)

I went to the Reds stadium once a while back on a baseball trip with the kids. We went to Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, and Cincinnati. All of the ballparks were really nice. After the Chicago game we saw Clippard and Storen outside the stadium. Hope the Nats get back on track tonight.

Those two were always together

They both visited my son once when he was at Children’s hospital. Ian Desmond came along also. It was such a treat for my kid. And we still treasure those photos. My favorite is Des kneeling down next to my son’s wheelchair. He also recognized him at a game not long after than, since we were in the HC seating close to the dugout, and sent an autographed ball to him via the usher.

Ahhhhh, the memories.

It seems like an annual occurrence going back a good decade: Through April, something about the Nationals (usually the bullpen) is on track to be the all-time record-setting worst-in-MLB-history. Fans call for heads to roll, and then things start reverting to the mean (sometimes through roster changes). It even happened the year they won it all. Baseball is the best.

Totally off topic but in ex-Nats news, I noticed earlier that Michael Soroka is 5-2 with a <4.00 ERA for the D-backs.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

I saw that. In the WaPo of all places! He beat TX the other night 1-0 and one of his losses was 1-0 for the opponent.

LEE MCDOWELL's avatar

And as I recall, Patrick Corbin is doing fairly well in Toronto.

My brother lives in AZ and loves Soroka!!

I sure hope they clobber their starter tonight like they did last season! It would also be pleasing to see Mikolas continue the trend of his last four games. GO NATS!!

Yeremy Cabrera promoted to A+ Wilmingtin from the FredNats where he was killing it. Check out his stats for the last 10 games. Cabrera came to the Nats from the Rangers as part of the MacKenzie Gore trade. I will be watching him. Still waiting for Tom Seaver King and Ronny Cruz to climb to their next levels.

About time! Can’t wait to see what he does there.

And we're underway on a cloudless, 76-degree Tuesday evening in Cincinnati.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

I'll really like it when James Wood has developed the skill of fouling of that called strike three on pitch #7.

LEE MCDOWELL's avatar

I'll really like it when he SWINGS at it, right down Broadway.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

You mean like his 2nd AB?!?!

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

Yikes, that's a 106.7-mph comebacker from Daylen Lile's bat to Brady Singer's right ankle. He's going to stay in, but he looks like he's in some pain.

gonatsgo1's avatar

Man on 3rd. One out. Let's not strand him.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

That's why I don't like a bunt with one out, instead of possible at least scoring a run on a ground out. I and not on the TV yet, si I couldn't tell if Nunez was trying to bunt for a hit or if a safety squeeze was on -- no matter, I don't like a bunt in that situation this early in the game.

gonatsgo1's avatar

I'm in the Earl Weaver camp. Not much of a fan of the bunt, overall.

"You get 27 outs. Use them wisely."

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

Same sentiment in Money Ball.

LEE MCDOWELL's avatar

Definitely not trying to bunt for a hit, lousy attempt, generally same as usual for Nats bunters.

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

Nunez got credited with a sacrifice bunt there, but let's be honest: That's not what he was trying to do, to just move the trailing runner up and get thrown out himself. That was poor execution, and he probably deserves an 0-for-1 instead of an 0-for-0. Nats fail to get the runner home from third with one out.

CBinDC's avatar

Pure screw up how do you not know how to bunt and blow the best chance they have had in a while

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

Tough 7 pitch AB resulting in a single on a Waaay low ball.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

That's more like it! JAMES WOOD IS A BEAST!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
