WOW, Mead batting third. Love it.

Glad to see both Mead and Young starting, notwithstanding the righty starter for Padres! With Ruiz in there too, makes line up really long again! Which is a comment I certainly couldn’t even imagine posting at the start of the season!

Like this lineup!

Tena playing second base. Fingers crossed for the fielding today.

Not sold on Tena at 2B.

Time to bring back House and Weimer and let go Mr. Andres and Vivas. Platoon Weimer at 1st

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

Weiner has never played even a ⅓ of an inning at 1st.

And isn't hitting .250 at Rochester.

Dave Nemec's avatar

No to Wiemer. Not counting his 5-game hot streak to start the season, he hit .189/.283/.340, for a .623 OPS, before being sent to Rochester.

Also, he's never played 1B before. He's right where he should be, in AAA.

For a position player he could throw strikes when he pitched, this is a joke :-)

Gameday & Nats Twitter (X) have a different lineup:

Wood RF

Garcia 1B

Mead 3B

Lile LF

Young CF

Tena DH

Vivas 2B

Ruiz C

No Crews - perhaps his hand (hit yesterday) is bothering him?

peter wood's avatar

Very well could be that hand.

I'm ready for a CURLY W this afternoon. Lots of reasons to root for one today. I doubt I'll get reception on MLB out on Corolla beach for a wild horse tour, but you never know

GO NATS!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️

Have a good time out there!

I noticed they had yet another runner (Young) thrown out at home on a FC when the bases weren’t loaded. This seems to be happening often. It costs them not just a run, but now they don’t have a runner in prime scoring position. Any guesses why?

Dave Nemec's avatar

Runner on third is running on contact. It happens.

Didace's avatar

Because they are aggressive. Do you make outs sometimes? Yes. The Nats as a team are 2nd in Baserunning Run Value so they are doing something right. No riskit, no biscuit.

Credit the pitcher making a good play, catching and throwing. It happens.

He was out because the pitcher made an excellent play on the ball. I expect to see more plays like this, some successful and some not. Gotta love small ball mixed in to keep defenses guessing.

LEE MCDOWELL's avatar

Yes the pitcher made an excellent play but I thought, with JY's speed, he might have missed a sign there & was unawares that the squeeze was on. Wasn't even close but should have at least been closer at home.

Dylan Crews was scratched from the original lineup. He was hit in the right wrist by a pitch during Saturday’s seventh-inning rally, and though he said afterward he was fine, it looks like it might still be bothering him.

Wow great start for Littell!

Tegwar's avatar

Well that was a nice beginning to the game. 6 pitches by Littell

Tegwar's avatar

Littell is like, starter, starter, I don't need no stinking starter. Apologizes to John Huston.

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

Three innings on 33 pitches. Starter couldn't do better than that!

Tegwar's avatar

Someone is getting much better at attacking the ball and throwing to first.

Maybe Tena's first AB seems more like pinch hitting to him. :-)
