I’m not opposed to one delayed but more detailed post game article no matter where the game is played. Would that be easier/ make more sense for you, Mark?

I also vote for this, Mark.

Miss Mead in the lineup. Like that guy.

Disappointed there hasn’t been any roster changes. Don’t get the status quo at this point.

NME's avatar

They've made lots of roster transactions, just not the type that you are looking for.

And who knows? Maybe the guys who are playing have monster stats against this pitcher

Since the Marlins series they have made a change? Didn’t see that.

This is far from the best Nats lineup, starting with Tena hitting third!! And Vivas has not been hitting. And where the heck is Mead? Maybe the batboy did this one:))

I like getting the instant analysis for east coast and central time zone games because if I'm too busy to listen or watch the game I like to know what happened that evening. However, for west coast games I'm not going to be up after midnight to read the instant analysis so one final report is enough.

I'm sure I will like the one article post-game approach FAR more then I like this line-up

Let's wait till we see the results before we declare one extended analysis to be better than two. The truth is that the game will likely dictate the coverage needs. A no hitter from Griffin would demand a two article approach. If it's a dismal loss, one might be too many. I trust Mark to make the best decisions.

“One might be too many”… so true, but then what would Mark do for work?

For West Coast games I like your proposal. I like the instant analysis (including reading it while waiting for Metro after home games) but for West Coast games, most of us won’t see anything until morning anyway.

I'm one of those who won't see anything until tomorrow, so I like the proposal, too.

I rarely make it past the 2nd inning for west coast games that start after 9:30 pm, so cheer 'em on for me, everyone who stays up late!

Go, Nats!!

Why does Millas keep alternating with Kiebert, who has actually stared to hit and throw guys out? Has Drew been Griffin's personal catcher or something? And I, too, a puzzled by Mead's absence, given his splits. I have to trust that Blake knows more than the stats show.

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

Speculation has been that Keibert is doing better this season because he is getting regular "breaks" and not being worn down/out as he has been in the past.

"It doesn’t make for a great baseball environment" is an understatement. Chase Field feels like you wandered into a mall food court and a baseball game broke out between Auntie Em's and Zorro Pizza.

Mark -- I would actually be in favor of just one detailed story with interviews and analysis after each game in general. Given that I typically watch the game, I already know most of what ends up in your Instant Analysis. It's your access to the players for quotes and the deeper insights you bring that I appreciate most.

I’m fine with the lineup. Butera has been largely doing lefty-righty plays all season and he’s starting a strongly lefty lineup against a righty. In general, Butera has been impressive at working people into the lineup and giving everyone opportunities to contribute.

As far as Vivas and Tena go, they aren’t doing great but they’re lefties and they each have ab OPS+ (an overall measure of hitting prowess with 100 being league average) which is frankly better than people like Nuñez, 46 (!), Millas, 52 & Crews, 56. The organization may still be giving them (Vivas and Tena) opportunities to play for their jobs, since changes will be coming after the trading deadline and call ups. It’s also good to spell Ruiz, who seems to benefit from not playing all the time. Millas, though, is probably the person I worry about the most in terms of not really working out.

Mark, what would you think if the MLB was divided into time zones?

Go4Ridgeback's avatar

I think that's taking the pitch clock too far.

Hondo's avatar

I’m not Mark, but interesting. I’ll have to think about that.

Mark P's avatar

Tena is batting 3rd? He's slotted to get more ABs than CJ and Lile tonight. Wonder what the analytics are behind that.

Tena and Vivas should be long gone by trade deadline.
