Game 65: Nats at Diamondbacks
After a blowout win Friday night, the Nationals look to keep it going this afternoon at Chase Field
PHOENIX – The Nationals bounced back in a big way Friday night, brushing off their sweep against the Marlins with a dominant, 14-1 victory over the Diamondbacks behind five home runs and a bunch of clutch hits. Now it’s a quick turnaround to today’s matinee, with a 1:10 p.m. local first pitch.
Zack Littell gets the start, and would you believe he has turned himself into arguably the most consistent member of the rotation? Over his last six games, he’s 5-0 with a 2.35 ERA. The key: He’s allowed only two homers in 30 2/3 innings. Littell also has begun providing some much-appreciated length, going at least six innings each of his last two appearances.
James Wood is in the Nats lineup after taking a foul ball off his right knee and departing Friday’s game. He was bandaged up this morning, but he’s only going to DH, so that will help keep him off his feet some. Wood and Co. will face a challenge today in Arizona left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez, who enters with a sparkling 2.24 ERA despite striking out only 52 batters in 72 1/3 innings.
