You really do never know what Butera is gonna do with this lineup do you?

Bernie Gilbert's avatar

You can pretty much write in Wood as lead off, Abrams as #4, Vivas and Nuñez at the bottom of the order. The rest are mix and match. But you can't argue with success!

Beached56's avatar

Giants scored a lot of runs a few days ago against Cubs (18) and Brewers (12).

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

A word to the wise . . . .

BassMan's avatar

Will JW hit the water this series? I wouldn't bet against him.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

I be okay with that if he did it a time or two + !!

Bernie Gilbert's avatar

First pitch at 9:45 p.m. Eastern. I'll be in bed before then, and at my age I don't expect to see more than 2-3 innings. Hoping to wake up in the morning to a satisfying Nats win.

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

Same scenario and hope for me, too!

Go, Nats!!

peter wood's avatar

Same here, but I will have the radio on by my bed.

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

As will I, but unfortunately it tends to lull me to sleep. lol

peter wood's avatar

That's what happened to me:))

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

I may get up at pee o'clock and check the score.

Bernie Gilbert's avatar

And you thought an active bladder was an unmitigated annoyance. 😆

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

Actually, my doctor wants me to stay hydrated and said if I don't get up in the middle of the night at least once, I am not drinking enough water.

Bernie Gilbert's avatar

I would sell my wife into slavery if I could get through a night to pee only once.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

Fortunately, especially for your wife, that would not work!

peter wood's avatar

I am familiar with that time:))

peter wood's avatar

I did that but was too sleepy to see who won:))

Dave Nemec's avatar

Yep, if I make it to 10:30, I consider it a win.

Going to the 1 PM game next Wednesday, just so I don't get home at 11 PM after a game.

Getting old stinks. 😁

Bernie Gilbert's avatar

Getting old is fine. Is the aging that stinks.

Dave Nemec's avatar

I stand corrected.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

"Getting old is a gift. I forget that sometimes, but it is." Name that quote.

Bernie Gilbert's avatar

Keith Richards? If he didn't say it he should have.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

Nope! Answer in the next 30 minutes.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

In Jumanji: The Next Level, Danny DeVito's character, Eddie Gilpin to his grandson, Spencer.

John walker's avatar

I fall asleep watching and hope to wake up to a late lead and stay up until the Curly W is in the books (as the saying goes).

Dave Nemec's avatar

I remember 2019 NLDS Game 5 was a late night in LA. I fell asleep with Charlie & Dave on the radio, and was awakened around midnight by Dave's call of Howie Kendrick's grand slam.

I had a hard time getting back to sleep after that.

Ordering Championship Series tickets!

Warming up the transistor radio for some under the pillow listening. -:)

And that, kids, is how I used to listen to the Senators when they played the L.A. Angels (and, for a time, the Athletics).

Bernie Gilbert's avatar

Memories of having my transistor radio under my pillow and falling asleep to the Yankees.

Susan V's avatar

I used to do that and pull in Vin Scully! (And I was in NY. AM radio DXing was amazing.)

peter wood's avatar

Same here:)) When I lived in AZ.

Beached56's avatar

I remember my radio running out of juice and then I would turn it off for a while and it would get a second life.

Beached56's avatar

I used to listen to the cardinals that way back in 1967 in northern VA

DCSportsfan63's avatar

Harry Cary and Jack Buck

Beached56's avatar

Yep on KMOX. They always seemed to be beating the cubs.

Matt Noble's avatar

I do that when we play the Giants so I can listen to Jon Miller and Dave Fleming. I really like Dave and Charlie also. And Josh when he fills in.

DCSportsfan63's avatar

Me too . First Dan Daniels and John McLain then Shelby Whitfield and Ron Menchine . Warner Wolf occasionally

Steven Davidson's avatar

Now you can watch it on your phone with no sound, like me!

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

I am always looking for decent pitching, clean defense and a significant offensive output leading to a CURLY W!! GO NATS!!!

dcNatz's avatar

Won’t see this one. 4am comes early. My flight to DC leaves at 8.

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

And I thought 4:45 am was early!

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

You two quit bragging! lol. 😴

John walker's avatar

I still have a Giants sweatshirt I had to buy at a nightgame in July 2014 to try to survive the cold when I planned poorly... The cliche' about how cold it can be in San Fran in the summer is true!

Tegwar's avatar

The Giants’ walk problem is nearly historic, with only a 5.8% walk rate, but they’re not helpless offensively. They’re free swingers who can still hurt you when they connect. Think of them almost like a team full of Luis Garcías at the plate. So I’m not sure I’d be pounding first pitch strikes. I’d see if they’ll chase before giving them something in the strike zone.

Tony Buckley's avatar

Did you text lovelady?

Tegwar's avatar

I don't need to he has trouble throwing strikes already. :-)

MacMom54's avatar

It’s a late start and our elite center fielder won’t be out there, so 💤💤💤. Later, Nats fans.

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

It's 59 degrees, overcast and the wind is blowing out here at Oracle Park as the Nats and Giants open their three-game series. (Slightly different conditions than we had in Arizona over the weekend.)

Boy, I wonder what The average age of Nats Journal audience is? Sounds like we were all old Senators fans (Minnesota or Texas) and are or should be in assisted living. Sad but true. Now get off my outfield you crazy kids!😁

Tegwar's avatar

Lovelady put that ball in the center of the plate.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

LOVELADY = HOUDINI on 15 pitches!!

PS 😴⚾️😴⚾️😴⚾️😴⚾️

Tegwar's avatar

Lucky it was hit right at Lile.

Beached56's avatar

Nice getting out of that

Tegwar's avatar

No Washington coverage for this game so I switched to Jon Miller on the Giants radio. I always liked Jon Miller on the radio.

Tony Buckley's avatar

It's on 579 on verizon?

Tegwar's avatar

Thanks, I have the MLB app. They usually give me the choice of Washington or the other team this time only the Giants or in Spanish. The Giants TV announcers are really bad so I switched to radio. I forgot Jon Miller did the radio and I listened to him growing up doing the O's games. Miller is a much better radio announcer than TV which he did do for a little while with Joe Morgan if I remember correctly.

LEE MCDOWELL's avatar

1261 on Xfinity/Comcast.

Tegwar's avatar

I logged out and back in and the Washington choice which was greyed out now works. Thanks for the update, I thought maybe they didn't send them to SF which would've been strange.

LEE MCDOWELL's avatar

Glad to hear it's now working for you.

Mark P's avatar

I live in Central Cali. I'm forced to watch the NBC Sports Bay Area broadcast. Nats TV is blacked out.
