I made comment last night that it rained the first time I was at a SF game against Nationals in SF and the last time I was at a game, which was last night. Unless you weren’t covering this game June 03, 2009 the game was postponed because of rain and made up the next next day…⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️🙋🏼♀️
I remember this well for many reasons but it was the third MLB park I had ever visited, fourth if you count DC Stadium, 2nd Camden Yards, and Nationals Park ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️🙋🏼♀️
I didn't watch last night's game but if I'm not mistaken Mead was HBP, then immediately pinch run for, and now he's not in the starting line-up tonight. I don't know the details -- and obviously correlation does not mean causation -- but I'm wondering if Mark/anyone has heard anything about whether he is being given a night off, or if this is merely standard Butera platooning.
We are one game out of the wild card going into tonight's game. Surely the sample size is by now sufficient to say that this team can be a contender. As we look at the coming trade season, I think we should NOT trade for prospects unless they are major-league ready and are a pitcher or corner infielder. In other words someone who can help win this year. I know the current management (to whom kudos for their share of the credit for the success so far) wants to build a long term winner. But part of that is building a winning tradition, and a great step forward in that regard would be to remain in the race deep into the season. That, therefore, should be a major goal of the team right now.
I agree that winning is important now and am hoping if they do make a move for anyone it isn’t just a rental. My guess is that they won’t do much to add to this team unless they are being promoted. But at least they are not tanking. I am convinced BB is coaching to win whether we agree with every move or not.
Not really about this game, just an observation. I really appreciate how transparent the people in this new organization are. They are generous with their time and give clear explanations.
