I wonder why Emerson is batting 9th for Seattle. He put on a clinic yesterday, getting into Cavalli’s head and forcing a mistake pitch for the home run. As far as lefty-heavy lineups go this one seems to be missing Lile - I hope his entourage isn’t still here or feeling too disappointed.
Also I noticed yesterday that Blake used Ribalta across consecutive innings- was that the first up-down for him this season? I hope he gets used for multiple innings more often going forward
What was his screen name on these forums? Was it Sec314? There’s a few commenters from that section that visits these forums. Great fans, and great folks.
I’m certain that’s the same section and possible friend of longtime season plan holder dc_Guy on Federal Baseball (JCC on TalkNats). Did Steve use the screen name Sec314? Either way, sad news indeed.
I'm looking for the exact same thing I did yesterday. Solid pitching and 6 - 8+ runs from an offense that is capable of doing that every game. Most importantly, a SERIES WINNING CURLY W!
The “opener” strategy originally seemed rather gimmicky and mundane. I haven’t been a fan, even last season, but it is really growing on me. I’m becoming a huge fan. And a quick AI query, if it calculated it correctly, the Nationals have used it twice as much more than any other team in baseball this season, and is on track to do so, by themselves, more than everyone in MLB combined last year. I’d like to research that myself instead of relying on AI, but I don’t have the time. Maybe one of our stats fans here can check it.
Only the third run Poulin has allowed in 10 1/3 innings as an opener this season, and the first that didn't score via homer. Despite the Young error in center field, it's still an earned run because the runner would've scored on the subsequent groundout.
Showing a lot of faith in Crews and Ruiz. Hopefully it’s rewarded.
And I like JY in the 9-spot. Gives him a chance to either do damage on his own or get on base for the big bats.
We still doin' this Vivas thing I see. Egads.
Let’s give Parker the day off today. And the rest of the season 🙄
😂😂😂
Cruz in RF?
Ruiz batting 5th headline material too. Hope he proves worthy…
Two Center fielders? That’s a new strategy. 🤣

Nice tribute to "The Mayor of Section 314," Steve Heller. Flowers and mementos in his seat.
RIP.
That's awesome. I would like to see pictures of that too share with some of his friends.
If I can figure out posting a pic I'll do it later.-:)

I don't know. He was a loyal member of the Facebook Group Nats Secret Society.

GO NATS!!

We are underway on a sweltering, 90-degree Sunday afternoon in D.C., where the Nationals hope to improve to 8-1-1 over their last 10 series.
A little squibber followed by a great catch by Crews at the wall! Then rats! A rocket passed JY!
Whew! Coulda been a lot worse!

Anyone else having trouble with captions showing up on your screen and you can't shut them off?
Never mind. I pulled the batteries from my remote and plugged them back in again and all is right with the world.
