Get those votes in for James and CJ!

Bob Loeb's avatar

And Keibert too!

Vote early and often in the first phase of ASG voting. JW needs everyone's support to move up and CJ needs to extend his lead

I’m so excited for what might trending towards a Crews breakout. Highly recommend everyone to check out his Savant page.

HardHit% up, K% down, GB% down, FB% up. Pulling the ball in the air slightly more. Making more contact in the zone. Whiffing less.

Even if you only look at old school, his average is underperforming his expected batting average .193 to .268. With his bat speed and athleticism, as he gets pickier and takes more walks (that’s still well below last year), the results will come.

Great news, looking better and more confident in all phases of the game

He was looking great last season also before his oblique injury. Then he was out for a very long time. Nice to see him doing well again. I agree.

Stephen Jobe's avatar

And he hits another grounder to short.

natsclop's avatar

What about now Jobe

Tim K's avatar

Better launch angle on last one

It will be nice to see Lane Thomas. He was good on the field and in the clubhouse. I hope they have a nice video planned.

And great news about DJ Herz. Since he will be on a pitch limit, maybe they can use him as an opener? It would make sense and if they do make a playoff run pitching is what they need.

Beached56's avatar

That’s great news about Herz. Fan voting for allstars often produce silly results. I suppose you could say that about any election though. Wasn’t Marte a former Nats killer?

Hey all, I wanted to pass along some information for any of you who may have known Steve Heller, the longtime and die-hard fan who sat in Sec. 314 and was a fixture not only at Nats Park but at spring training as well. Steve sadly passed away last week of cancer, and the Nationals were nice enough to hold a moment of silence for him prior to Friday night's game against the Mariners.

Steve's son, Tony, passed along funeral information for anyone who might be interested in attending: It will be held June 25 at 11 a.m. at National Funeral Home in Falls Church (7428 Lee Hwy), with the burial service at 1 p.m.

Saw the fitting memorial at yesterday's game. Flowers and baseball mementos in Steve's seat in 314.

I’m excited to see CJ Abrams getting recognized as the best shortstop in the National League by leading in early All-Star voting. However, I’m discouraged to see James Wood, the NL’s best outfielder, in SEVENTH place, trailing players like Brandon Marsh, Teoscar Hernandez, and Michael Harris II. C’mon Nats fans! Support our players by voting up to five times a day. Here’s the link:

Fan votes should not have near the weight that they hold.

Hondo's avatar

Agreed. I think the players, coaches, mgrs, and press should pick the starters. Fan vote should pick the rest of the squad. That way most deserving would get the honor and fans would be assured of seeing their favorites.

Carl Rosendorf's avatar

James Wood will be added as a reserve we trust believe hope..

Go Nats :)

Tim K's avatar

I like him better as a starter!@

Greg10ike's avatar

That’s fine to be a reserve but he deserves the respect as a starter!

gonatsgo1's avatar

I've been voting the allotted 5x per day for the Nats. Great news on CJ but it's a slim lead. I figured Wood would have a hard time getting to start, but he'll be there for sure.

Keep voting!

dcNatz's avatar

Just submitted my 5!

Info about the foe for tonight that may add to watching enjoyment: Whitt leads all players in Outs above average at +16. And Mikael Garcia was MVP of the 2026 WBC while playing for Champion VZ!

Tim K's avatar

Bobby's pretty good

Martin Niland's avatar

When was the last time fan all-star voting had any correlation with real stats? I am not surprised at all that Andy Pages leads NL outfielders and James Wood is seventh. Sure, Wood deserves to be a starter, but nobody outside of Nationals fandom cares.

How many times have fans elected an injured superstar to the starting lineup, and the manager or league office replaced him with a player whose stats merit the starting lineup?

Most people — or bots —who vote for the All Stars have never heard of Wood because they are motivated to support their favorite player or team. Very few of us look at the game from a standpoint of picking the best player at each position.

Stuffing the ballot box is a time-honored tradition in All-Star voting, but with international online voting, the stats mean even less.

Wood will be on the team, regardless.

Greg10ike's avatar

Except CJ Abrams leads all shortstops, statistically and in voting. So there’s that.

Martin Niland's avatar

The votes align sometimes, but not often enough for me to believe educated fans are actually voting.

Geordie Keitt's avatar

Abrams is alphabetically first and Wood only trailed by Young alphabetically for last. In the default sort order it takes effort to get all the way to Wood. That has to play a part.

Susan V's avatar

That's a really good point.

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

We are underway on a glorious, 76-degree Monday evening in D.C.

Beached56's avatar

Why would Ruiz challenge that??

gonatsgo1's avatar

Really? Top of the 1st?

peter wood's avatar

Nobody with any common sense would call a challenge in the first inning!!

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

Oy, Keibert Ruiz just lost two ABS challenges in the top of the 1st. He seemed to try to take back the second one, but crew chief Bill Miller said it was too late. Blake Butera (who doesn't argue much) tried to argue, but it didn't go very far.

gonatsgo1's avatar

Easily the fastest the Nats have burned their challenges, right? Gotta be.

peter wood's avatar

They have done it before in the first. Butera needs to be the adult on the team:))

Tim K's avatar

Better be discussed after game, missed out on multiple later inning challenges

Martin Niland's avatar

That’s some garbage.

Travis McGavin's avatar

What I saw was Bill Miller make the challenge call from 2nd base, which is BS. The home plate umpire should be the one determining challenges; Keibert did not touch his helmet

Mark Miller's avatar

He raised his hand but he didn’t touch his helmet. Wondering did he verbalize a challenge? It appears that Bill Miller (2b ump) jumped to a conclusion that was not correct.

natsclop's avatar

Oh boy, we’ll be playing the game on hard mode for the rest of the way
