I don't agree with that rule. Give the player some leeway. If he thinks it's ball four, his instinct is to start towards first. It's how they've played the game since its inception.

That's a nitpicking rule. If a player thinks it's ball four, his instinct is to start walking to first.
The reverse of what happened to us about a month ago when Kiebert tried to stop a challenge and the 2nd base umpire said he in fact challenged.
Should be bases loaded with one out.
