Really, I am happy for Chapparo that he has had his opportunity at the major league level. But he is the DH? He is the ultimate survivor on this year’s roster and it defies logic… there are multiple players at AAA who look like they deserve an opportunity.

Though I would love to question Andres Chaparro's role on this team, I think most of us were questioning Jorbit Vivas' role on the team for a long time and he's turned things around and been a valuable contributor. They certainly are slow at making changes with position players but their patience has been rewarded with several players.

By now I'd like to see Yo Yo for at least a handful of games.

Luis batting 7th?

Carl Rosendorf's avatar

Luis batting 2nd behind James is quite the lineup, though it appears the lineup is staggered for balance thru out.

Time for Mr. Crews to step up with RSP.

wish him well

NY IS pitching a southpaw.

Tim K's avatar

Agreed,.Just checking discrepancy between Mark's article and MLB game site for Luis batting order. Not a huge issue

GREAT to see Luis starting against a lefty, but I do wonder (along with Tim K.) about batting him 7th....

Tim K's avatar

See he's 8th on the MLB site

Think about it:))

I’ll be at the game tonight with my Yankees-loving father (I grew up a Yankees fan) and my Orioles-first, Nats-second son.

As long as Littell doesn’t turn into a pumpkin tonight, I’ll take it. A win would be icing on the cake.

I hope they can shine in the spotlight and win 2 of 3.

Go Nats

I get why Crews is batting third (.353 against lefties, .980 ops), but the continuing confidence in Chaparro baffles me. Hope he proves me wrong. Don’t want to argue too much with a process that’s produced one of the best offenses in baseball.

Chappy should be in Rochester:))

At this point, in BB & the Analytics we (should) trust.

Chaparro is already on the 40-man roster. Bringing up eg Yo-yo Morales will mean booting someone off.

Yo-Yo hit another HR last night

That's 22 for YoYo!

Boy everyone hates Chapparo being on the roster, but who do we bring up and play a couple days a week. The DH is primarily being used as a partial day off for an outfielder and you're not going to sit Luis more than once a week, so Chapparo fits that role while a future contributor is getting reps in AAA. If we get closer to a wild card slot, then it would make sense for a short run.

I'm going to repeat a comment from a while ago in another thread: I doubt that Morales is called up this year. . . because 2027. If there's a lockout (which I think is likely), teams will want to keep as many potential future major leaguers off the 40-man as possible so as to allow them to continue to develop in the minors.

I have no idea whether Morales is MLB-caliber. But is it really worth adding him to the 40-man if a) he won't play more than 2 times a week and b) you're currently using the back end of your 40 man to grab other teams' DFA'd relievers in the hopes that at least one of them will turn into something half-decent?

I'll be glad if I'm wrong. But I'm not holding my breath.

Good points. We are not in the clubhouse.

I dunno if I will even watch them play these NY games. I have hated the NYYs for most of my life. Loved the Dodgers as a kid growing up on Long Island:))
