Poor Bolte got the loudest sarcastic cheer last night after he finally caught a ball. I laughed out loud.
The A’s are the team of my youth and I still follow them. The game thread I was following from one of the local sites was one of the most morose series of comments I can remember. Lots of lamenting about the failure of old-school Kotsay baseball ways (and “who is this guy Chaparro?”) I know we have had it bad the last few years, but at least we have direction and hope.
It has been pointed out that the offensive production of his teammates this year has made it easier on Dylan and reduced expectations. But I wonder if a night like last night has the opposite effect when everyone else seems to be enjoying a big night.
With dodgers being rained out (and even if they hadn’t been…) and Pirates scoring “only” 7 in game 1 of their day/night twin bill (second game “Delayed”) I like Nats chances of remaining #1 offense in mlb!
I've been tough on the kid lately, but we all know the talent is there. I'm pouring a cold one before first pitch and turning a new page. For you, Dylan Crews, make tonight a 'kind of special.' The beer you pour must be something more, somehow. So tonight, tonight, let it be Löwenbräu. Let's see those hits start pouring!" 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺⚾️🙋🏼♀️
I'm looking forward to a CURLY W tonight (I'll be checking at pee o'clock). I am rooting for the Nats to score only ½ the runs they did last night. A decent pitching performance would enhance my overall outlook on life.
I attended an A's game decades ago at the mausoleum known as the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum. I'll never forget walking across the freeway bridge from the BART towards what appeared to be a prison.
In the end it was a great experience and I particularly admired the spirited A's fans. Sucks to lose a team as we know well and I sympathize with the Oakland fans who have lost their team.
I doubt I can stay up for this game. Let's hope they can take tonight's game (and series). And it's not like their Strat-O-Matic selves from 1973. (In 1974, my boyfriend was trying to replay the 1973 season in Strat-O-Matic. He had a series between the Expos and Padres. The Padres (who were terribad in those days) took 2 out of 3 from the Expos. But in the game they won, the Expos won 20-0, with Steve Renko on the mound.) I married the boyfriend (who was then a Braves fan) and the Expos moved to DC and he converted to them. But every so often, I see the Nats lost a series but win one game by a totally lopsided score and think of that simulated series.

We certainly do. I feel for the A's and their fans. (Not that I want the A's to rally for a win tonight!)
I felt bad for him
Why Crews instead if JY?
It's a mystery
Mr. Crews made nice catch last night and is awesome on the baseballs.
JY better hitter and Gold Glove fielder.
I guess giving Crews every opportunity to succeed on a regular basis. JY is very fan friendly, a nice young man
Meant on the base paths
“JY is a better hitter” is not a sentence I would ever expect to see.
Why not? The numbers are all there.
I know it’s sad in a way, but it’s true.

JY should be starting at least 100 out of the 162 games.
I won't even be around for the start of this one, so I'll be looking forward to reading "all about it" in the morning, Mark!
Those of you with more stamina than I, cheer them on to a series win tonight!
Go, Nats!!
Baseball today is played on at least 2 levels : 1. The game on the field and 2. the salary cap maneuverings ; Boras problems ; union intrigue etc.
Mark does a great job illuminating both levels.

They’re 16 runs ahead of the 2d place Pirates, and 31 runs ahead of the 3rd place Dodgers. I think their position in 1st place is safe.

My beer is Shiner Bock, brewed in Shiner, TX,......population 2,127.
Bought a six pack of Shiner earlier this week. Good beer.
I think the best reason I like it is that it is mild with just a bit less alcohol.
Nationals offensive rankings among all 30 MLB teams:
1st in runs scored
1st in home runs
1st in slugging percentage
1st in RBIs
1st in stolen bases
3rd in OPS
3rd in at-bats
5th in hits
5th in doubles
6th in triples
7th in on base percentage
8th in batting average
Did I mention this team can hit?
It appears to be the case. They also appear to demonstrate this is sustainable.
So far, so good.

GO NATS!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
I will likely be checking at about the same time tonite:))
HHmmmmm, that turned out to be 5:30am,........so made coffee and stayed awake:))
Nats’ run differential is now +26. 19 of those +runs happened last night 😂
Thanks for saving us having to look that up:))
With a better bullpen that "run diff" would be a helluva lot better:))

Mark are well allow to paste photos web links into our comments?
Fine with me!
Ok …I need to research the “how” while on iPhone 😎😎. Are you in Sacramento or home?
I'm hoping to watch the game, if the power comes back on here! Storm blew through this afternoon. No power since about 4 pm.
The most unorthodox lineup change from last night is to see the Nats closer starting at 3B tonight…
CJ will hate this pitcher with his sinker
I was about to ask if Littell can keep the ball in the park tonight. 🫣
