Someone refresh my memory. What's up with Jacob Young? I'm assuming he's ailing with some injury. Hasn't logged much time in ST.

Last I heard he was still nursing some soreness in that wrist from getting hit by a pitch. I think the team is just being cautious.

He injured his wrist in batting practice.

Right. Here's an update from Jessica Camerato, posted on Twitter earlier today: "Jacob Young (right wrist contusion) started swinging today. He’s still day to day, with the Nationals goal of making sure he’s 100% healthy for Opening Day."

I think I understand a lot about baseball contracts. I do not understand why there are so many seemingly-pointless mutual options.

According to MLBTR, the Nats are kicking $4MM of his $7MM commitment to the 2027 books rather than the 2026 books.

I'm looking forward to seeing the lineup pick up and shine some offense today. Let's go guys! Have some quality AB s and some good swings on the ball.

Well, not in the first inning. CJ popped out, and Wood struck out swinging.

(Current batting average for both = .111.)

Crews drew a walk as the 3rd batter, but Garcia struck out swinging.

Have not heard anything about Griff McGarry lately. Is he getting work? What are his prospects?

Lile

with a nice opposite field HR. House with one down left field. Solid swings

brady. house.

I love those two homers by Like and House. I would have loved them more if it had been Wood and Crews. Need something to break these guys out of their funk.

Rusty Lamar's avatar

Lile and House just hit back to back homers in the 2nd here in Jupiter.

Nats pitching continues to be one of the most surprising and welcome developments of this Spring Training run.

The Miami radio guys keep saying "Foster Griffin looks sharp".

So far, 2 IP, 22 p (13 strikes), no hits, walks, or runs, 3 K.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

why'd ya jinx him?!?! lol

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

I didn't do it! They did! LOL

JamesRW's avatar

The defense jinxed him !

The Miami announcers are wonderful.

I do like the Miami radio play-by-play guy, Jack McMullen. He has continued to appear on "The Just Baseball Show," which is one of my baseball podcast subscriptions.

Jacapa's avatar

I'll check him out. Thanks.

Foster Griffin has looked great all Spring. He reminds me of Chris Bubic from the Royals

CJ & Wood both strike out in their 2nd at-bats. Both now sporting .105 BA. (Yes, I know, it's only ST, but OD is about 2 weeks away.)

Anthony's avatar

This has been really concerning. It's entirely possible both of them (and Crews) get hot once the season starts, but we're still seeing strikeouts from Wood and that is his Kryptonite.

cipherlockinexile's avatar

and now Crews strikes out, too. Hard not to be a little nervous about the three of them.

Jacapa's avatar

Definitely. Very frustrating. I'm near giving up on Crews. I've been an ardent supporter since his LSU days.

Nice to see the back to back Dingers from Lile and House! Let's get the top of the order going! Nice for Griffin to get out of the 3 inning with only 1 run .

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

Only one run, but three hits - it's as though the Marlin broadcasters jinxed him by repeating how sharp he was!
