Looks like the Mets have a few regulars today. I like the Nats lineup and hope the perform well in all phases of the game, hitting, pitching, and defense.

GO NATS!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️

Yes! Performing well vs this "star-studded New York lineup" would build player confidence and make both them and us very happy.

Go, Nats!!

You know, I wonder why they don’t make it possible for us to watch all the spring training games, especially since it’s win minor league players, and major league players played together, sometimes especially when all the minor leaguers are all over the country and not close sometimes (looking at you 2019 and 2020 in Fresno)

I think it’s just costs and that the announcers need some breaks now so they’re ready for the real season.

Frederick Kiel's avatar

They need breaks from working five-hour days?

A good test this afternoon for Irvin against a challenging line up.

Leaving for WPB in the morning. Yay. Will try to post some thoughts and impressions from on the ground in Florida.

I signed up for the free spring training games on Nationals.TV via MLB.TV and it not allowing me to see this game w the Mets feed. The other day I was able to watch the Yankees feed when the Nats played them. I keep waiting to hear which cable/streaming channel the Nats will use before I pay the $100 for the season. I don't want to "double pay" so to speak.

CBinDC's avatar

I know I am the same I want to kill cable BUT if they have a cable use then I will hang on but really the Nationals once again ignore the Fans there should be constant information on wide range of Fan related topics but so far crickets

Gray Moon's avatar

Yes, it is frustrating not knowing until the last minute..... assuming we will know then!!!! I live in Central Virginia but it is definitely "Nats market" geographical area.

gonatsgo1's avatar

Same. Best to wait it out. I'm about 99.9% sure my premium cable package (Comcast in MoCo) will carry the Nats, so I'm not ponying up for nationals.tv. Yet.

Unfortunate they're taking this long to make the announcement, but there was a piece on line saying that they're working out the kinks on carriage details.

NME's avatar

So Nationals.tv does not give rights to see the game from the opponents broadcast. Next season, when they switch to the ESPN unlimited app, that will be allowed if both teams are under the MLB regional media Umbrella.

Gray Moon's avatar

How about if I take a trip to SF (which yes I am planning)...will I be able to use my Nationals.TV out there?

Frederick Kiel's avatar

The publicity says that "all streaming games not blocked out" applies only in Nats local market. I don't know how far that extends, but a VPN will do'ya.

NME's avatar

I assume you are talking about a home vpn at your house. MLB is pretty good about knowing all the major VPN source addresses.

Frederick Kiel's avatar

They've been A-OK with me.

As I understand that, it will only be allowed if you are in another team's area that is under the media umbrella. But that will be next season. The Giants are currently not under that umbrella. They have streaming via giants.tv but Bay Area Sports Network has their broadcast rights and normal blackout rules apply even if you had the full mlb.tv package. That being said if they were not playing the Nats, then the full mlb.tv would work to get Nats games.

The caveat may be what they do with the local provider. With MASN you could stream by authenting with your cable provider. So if I was out of market I could stream via the MASN website by authenticating with my cable provider login. That should be an option, but given the negotiation issues they are currently going through that may not be available in the first season.

Great the TV is NOT AVAILABLE seems it's NOT FREE

david behnke's avatar

I'm watching on MLB, same as during the regular season

CBinDC's avatar

I still have cable and not going to sign up if they will have the channel on cable

david behnke's avatar

understand I've not paid mlb for this se3ason and am also waiting to see what happens.

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

Same here. I suspect a lot of us are in the same boat.

Very nice play by Chaparro on a Soto grounder that looked like a hit. Irvin struck out the other two batters.

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

Well, seven of Jake Irvin's 13 pitches during a perfect bottom of the first were fastballs. And they averaged 92.4 mph, topping out at 93.7 mph. So, that's a change from last time out.

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

Nice to see two strikeouts from Jake sandwiched around covering 1B on Soto's grounder!

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

Nasim Nuñez continues to show he has the ability to drive the ball for power. He crushed an inside cutter from Tobias Myers to the wall down the right-field line for a double in the top of the third. That's the kind of swing we saw from him last September. And if he keeps that, he's going to force his way into some regular playing time.

Bob Loeb's avatar

He is making a CJ trade more palatable.

Steve's avatar

I don’t know if I’d go that far, yet, but I do hope Nunez’s hitting isn’t a September and Spring Training mirage, because he’s the kind of dynamic, exciting player we haven’t seen in DC for some time.

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

Three solid scoreless innings for Irvin today on 44 pitches. He wound up throwing more breaking balls in that final inning, but he did maintain his fastball velocity, averaging 92.3 mph for the outing. He also got two of his four strikeouts on what registered as sliders but I believe were his new sweeper. All in all, good stuff from Jake.

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

Nice to see Cionel Pérez finally make his spring game debut. And nice to see him go up against the heart of the Mets lineup and retire the side on six pitches, with a fastball that reached 97 mph.

DCSportsfan63's avatar

We lost Chelsea Janes to the Mets, bummer!

Bob Loeb's avatar

Wishing her the best. She is a unique talent. Hope she is still writing as well as on-air.

Steve's avatar

Yep, yet another blunder by the owner of the Washington Post.

aNatsFan's avatar

Good to see the pitching do well against this lineup.

Mark Zuckerman's avatar

A two-double day for Brady House, including a bullet to the gap in left-center. And some standout pitching from Nats relievers so far, including Jackson Rutledge and Cole Henry. Mets have only one hit through six.

Lovelady is looking like he needs to become more effective to gain a spot in the 🐃🖋.

I gotta give it to the Mets fans, "big red dog" is a legendary chant
