The Nats launched their own fireworks in Friday night's 9-5 win over visiting Pittsburgh. Mark & Al discuss the Nationals five homer effort in the victory that puts the team at three games above .500 entering July 4th.
(05:30) Luis Garcia Jr. homered twice to continue his torrid summer. Garcia is now up to 18 homers this season and he has hit 13 of them within the past month.
(10:30) Daylen Lile also went deep twice on Friday evening. Lile has now lifted his OPS to .730 on the season.
(12:30) Jose Tena lived up to the role as the DH in the 3rd spot in the order. Tena crushed a 430 foot homer to put the Nationals up 4-1 in the bottom of the 3rd.
(19:00) Foster Griffin earned his 9th victory of the season after lasting five innings. Griffin only allowed one run and his ERA is down to 2.87.
(24:30) Zak Kent tossed a scoreless top of the 8th, but then he gave up four runs on five Pirates doubles in the top of the 9th. Kent stayed in for the final out, but Riley Cornelio was forced to warm up in the bullpen as the game got tight.
