One positive: new MLB record for most consecutive games with a run (69).

And happy Foster Griffin Day to all those that celebrate!

It’s not, 308 Yankees, 1931-1933, stat Sager

Josh Sager's avatar

Ok someone lied to me then. Ugh. Foster Griffin Day at least.

The 69 games without being shut out is the longest current streak in the majors.

Flush this one, go get 'em tomorrow, and win the series!

It's also TGIF tomorrow! (Thank God It's Foster)

🤮🤮🤮

We have to stop grading Littell and Mikolas on a curve. Eating innings is nice, but it can’t keep coming after being shelled in the first place.

This game was basically over when it started. That’s unacceptable.

BassMan's avatar

I have to agree. He seems like a good guy in the clubhouse, but it's time to move on.

McMerc7MHDC's avatar

Yep. But moving on is the easy part. The hard part is…who replaces them? And would they be any better?

Let Teddy Win aka Noodles&Cabg's avatar

LOL McMerc you're taking to baseball fans. On any given day, 70 to 90% of all players need to go (or better yet, be traded for All Stars).

Wood looking a little like he did in the very first series of the season with 7 Ks over two games coming out of the break. At this point you trust he breaks out of these mini slumps but gotta get right and capitalize on this weak schedule before the deadline.

PU! Especially following such a blowout win. No offense and no pitching are a recipe for disaster!!

Flush twice and take the series later today!

Another 1-run 9th from Vivas. As far as I’m concerned the closer job is his! 👊

Diane Doyle's avatar

Sadly, he's not doing worse than several of the people whose job is relief pitcher.

Glad I missed this one.

Should have had a Shiner Boch before I went to bed last night. Worked Friday night.

peter wood's avatar

I had some wine instead. Red wine.

nebco66's avatar

I wonder if Butera ever thought after last night's game, "What if I had gone with Friday night's lineup? What if I had stayed with the hot hand?"

GLH aka NatsFan4Ever's avatar

Couldn't have been too much worse. Although the pitching was atrocious.

Andrew's avatar

Thought the same!!

Or at least paid attention to this. Nats' overall record when these guys start:

Vivas 23-30 (.654 OPS vs. RHP)

Tena 19-26 (.717)

Mead 29-28 (.847)

Numbers per NatsTalk

nebco66's avatar

Isn't at least possible that Mead is thinking, "What to I have to do?"

Alexva's avatar

something tells me the A's got an earful after Friday nights game. there are a more than a couple young stars on that team. the finale will be a tough one to win. go get'em fellas!

peter wood's avatar

Thanks Mark for producing this one at 0-dark 30:))

Andrew Sharp's avatar

It's a bit weird that the Athletics don't want to be called the Sacramento A's. Yet they put the city's name on their home jerseys, and I saw a few hoodies in the stands with "Sacramento" on them.

gonatsgo1's avatar

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. Also noticed that they have "Las Vegas" branding on one of the sleeves. We all know about that one!

markopc's avatar

And just like that! 🫰 the Nats’ +26 run differential evaporated almost as fast as it appeared! Well, they’re still on the plus side at +12.

Griffin can turn in a solid 7 innings and our lineup, exhausted and sleepy from the over exertion in the first game and the after-effects of jet lag from their cross country trip, will now be awake and rested after doing nothing all day yesterday. Should be a comfortable victory on our way out to Colorado, where the air is crisp and thin and baseballs ⚾️ soar far into the heavens.

Geordie Keitt's avatar

The league leaders in run differential are an order of magnitude better.

The Nats’ Bats are my Muse

nebco66's avatar

And Nats' arms are your bane?

gonatsgo1's avatar

Kranick = 67.50 ERA.

Is that good? -:)

Our bullpen savior has arrived!

Bob's avatar

That’s okay for the Softball Beer League.

peter wood's avatar

It is good if you are betting on the opposing team!

Nats Fan in Exile's avatar

It is better than 68.00…

Dan Holmi's avatar

The A's wanted it more. Poor starting pitching coming into focus again. Not as bad as the bullpen, but not great either
