Ah, that’s baseball, difficult to get upset

It was entertaining. Albeit frustrating!

That was anticlimactic. Glad the boys kept fighting though.

Nats made it interesting until the last out!

Nats can still take the series with TGIF tomorrow! (Thank God It's Griffin)

Let's take the series tomorrow.

Why is Chaparro on the team?

Would like to see Daylen improve at the plate.

Still love our Nats

Congrats to James and CJ

Good question about Chapparo. Can Yoyo play 1st? Bring him up

Susan V's avatar

And where does Luis play then?

They're not going to bring Morales up to sit on the bench.

DCSportsfan63's avatar

Yoyo would take Chaparro’s place and play occasionally against left handers and also occasionally at 3rd base to spell Mead. Unless Yoyo is left handed, I don’t know

Susan V's avatar

Which is why they won't do this now. He won't play every day if they bring him up. There is no point to having him here to sit on the bench.

I liked that Butera left Alvarez in longer. At this point, I think he needs to put more pressure on the starters and less on the bullpen. Cut down the number of bullpen innings, stop the merry-go-round of relievers going up and down, and stick with a few arms they think might actually have a future here.

The more I see Curtis Mead, the more he impresses me. Hader is still a tough pitcher, and Mead put together a really good at bat before getting that single. C.J. had a great at bat too, working a walk after falling behind 0-2. That shows real growth.

EVERY point spot on!

Last time I saw Hader pitching late at Nats Park it ended in The Greatest Sports Moment of my life. Woulda been nice if Dylan’s had run into one, but if I had to choose one moment id rather have the 2019 result….Meanwhile, Shohei keeps pace with (but still a couple behind) James by popping his sixth lead off homer of the year in LA against the Rockies (his 300th overall MLB tater)

Butera has been a master with his lineups and matchups but I don’t like using matchups to PH for Garcia for a righty (especially Chapparo), nor PH for Ruiz with the game on the line. Those are two of the guys who have carried us. Not Chappy and Crews.

Most were thinking the same thing.

Susan V's avatar

Ruíz would have had to bat from the right side though, and that's his weak point. Using Crews there wasn't a bad idea; it just didn't work out.

But the Chaparro-for-García swap is another story. Butera is entirely too wedded to the matchup he thinks should work.

Butch Rogers's avatar

Agree. Although Ruiz has more experience in that situation more than Crews even if right handed.

Butch Rogers's avatar

Why did Butera bat Crews for Ruiz in that situation?

Susan V's avatar

Because Crews bats righty, which is not Ruiz's strength by any means. He's much better from the left side.
