I will push back in that by this time in 24 and 25 the competitive portion of the season had long passed. There are still 48 games left to go and the Nats are still in the mix despite the bad week.

You're talking since Wednesday, right? They played a good series against Arizona last weekend winning 2 of 3, including scoring 10 runs the day after Mead was traded. They scored 8 runs against the Jays on Tuesday.
Also, the Braves had something to do with this weekend's results, best record in the NL. It was a tall order trying to win this series.
Losing streaks happen even to good teams. The Nats are in the larval stage of "good team." They will pupate in 2027, if the games get played. I'm looking forward to the future.
I think the trade deadline pressure got to the youngsters. It was clear they were pressing at the plate. I’m afraid this is the start of a lengthy swoon as they deal with the hangover from the trade deadline and whatever results come from Tuboni’s sell off.
The quality of the opposition also has something to do with this weekend's results. I think once the trade deadline passes, the pressure will be off, and they will play relaxed once again. Just like golf, play easy instead of play hard. They're squeezing the bats too tight at the plate. I think the erratic defense is also a result of trying too hard. (booting DP grounders while trying to rush to make the play)
Well the defense has been weak pretty much the whole season. The bats have been uncharacteristically ice cold since the Toronto series. Like you said, they’re squeezing the bats too tight.
Mad Max went six innings in Toronto while we were laying down against Atlanta. He allowed 1 run and passed Walter Johnson for 10th place all time for strikeouts in a career.

White Sox took two out of three on the road from the best home team in baseball and which is leading the AL East by 3 (and which started the week-end with the same # of losses as the Braves and one more win. And Braves have second best record in NL behind the Dodgers FYI — but no disgrace that of course) I schlepped to Atlanta for the Saturday night game and sure wish it wasn’t the case that Nats lost 4 in a row, but they did. Res ipsa loquitor
Today meaningfully changed the calculus on Foster Griffin. Considering most of us didn't know who he was a year ago, I'm excited for the next 24 hours.
P.S. I was also there when most of the Nats base wanted to scrap Garcia and head right into testing someone else so the new regime seems to have found enough low-hanging fruit to restore the rebuild.

This entire week has been a test and thus far, they seem to be succumbing to the pressure. They've played extremely tight.
