That seems to be the general consensus. I would love to hear Jayson Werth as the TV color man. Charlie and Dave are a terrific team. Listening on Sirus, compared to most of the other radio teams we are very lucky to have them.
Should have won that game but I don’t put it on Schultz. He didn’t look shell shocked from that extra innings loss. Some really disappointing at bats when it mattered and two pitchers that couldn’t keep the game under control.
Not sure what will make Paul Toboni quit Jorbit Vivas but you would hope being 0-20 with RISP would do it. Can’t have Vivas and Millas batting back to back in an inning. Two automatic outs.
#TheLittleThings caught up with the guys. Awful AB by Crews with one out in 10th/CJ on third with what should’ve been third run of inning. Wasn’t pleased with DC’s stutter step on the single to right that allowed the go ahead run to score in regulation either, and as the article notes the throw home on the winning run in the 11th wasn’t very good…
Maybe Crews, Hassell, Franklin, and Weimer are not going to make it. I suppose there is still some time for Crews. Ford got a couple hits for Rochester today.
I feel like the Nats are stuck with playing Crews for a while due to being the second pick. He’s just been such a disappointment. Really average play at triple AAA yet he’s up batting fifth against an excellent righty for the Braves.
Totally agree. I really don’t understand why they called him up. I guess because Wiemer has been so bad since his hot streak? What has crews (other than his spectacular college career snd being the second pick) ever done to justify being called up? He’s never had an OPS above about 770 in the high minors. He had a hot three weeks preceded by a horrible four weeks. He once again is looking terrible at the MLB level. I hope he turns out, but I don’t get why he’s in the majors now.
Crews was a consensus 1 or 2 pick and the best hitter in college who played on a team that won the NCAA Championship. He is an above average fielder who can hold down all three outfield positions. He was heating up in his recent AAA stint. Nobody gives up on a guy with his pedigree and potential, especially professionals in baseball. If he ends up playing himself out of a regular role, much less as a star, that’s a different matter. We are not close to that decision point yet.
As far as hitting fifth goes, there were a far amount of weak hitters behind him tonight, except for Lile, and Butera and the lineup computer were going for lefty-righty alternations within the lineup. Ergo he was tucked between the lefty batters Abrams and Lile. Great idea? I don’t know, but understandable.
I don't know. Battling the best team in baseball in their home park all the way to the 11th inning seems pretty good to me. Could the Nats have done some things better? Of course. Could Atlanta had done some things better - well, yes, they could have, too. In the end, they did one more thing better than the Nats to win. Given the raw talent disparity between the teams, I can't get too upset about this loss.
The fact that I FEEL the loss is progress over the last several years, too! And just imagine how much worse it would feel tonight if one were a Colorado Avalanche fan!
I think Mead is going to keep getting more playing time. He barrels up a lot of balls, and an .803 OPS is good enough to start if he can keep it anywhere near that.
Honestly, I thought the Nats bullpen pitched pretty well overall. The Braves are a good team, and they got their share of bloops and seeing-eye grounders. If you had told me before the season the Nats could go toe-to-toe with Atlanta like this, I probably would’ve thought you were crazy.
Sure, they missed some chances, but that’s usually what happens when you lose a close game. I’m really not feeling that bad after this one.
Jorbit not making any contact in the 11th is so frustrating. Hopefully Brady House fixes his hitting and fielding woes asap because I don’t how much longer I can stand his ABs lol
It’s a shame Mikolas pitched his best game this year. CJ also seems to have Georgia on his mind, he was electric tonight. But Garcia going 0-2 with RISP tonight was genuinely infuriating.
If we still had Jose A. Ferrer I feel confident we would’ve won this game and likely a few others. I sure hope that Harry Ford turns out to be a great player.
Fun game to listen to, I just wish we had pulled it out at the end.
Should have listened on the radio, Dan is good but Franny just doesn’t do it for me

And Nunez and Crews. All automatic outs

I would have Pinckney up rather than Crews.
Roll Tide!

Not sure calling up and sending down Weimer helped the club bad move

I feel the same way.
Which is why I liked your comment 😁

Count me in too:))

100%. Vivas has not played well enough to stay on the roster.
"Chadwick Tromp."
Baseball name? -:)
That is quite the name:))
Almost as good a name as “Basil Rathbone”.
THAT brings back memories!!
Bring back House and Weimer bad bad sending them down. Send down 0 for 22 Vivas. Must do better RSP, frustrating.
Abrams is an All star
Vivas is out of options. He can’t be sent down but could be DFA’d. It might happen, but for now he has a role.

The infield defense was not good. Have you noticed that all the Seeing Eye singles are the ones not hit to Nunez?

I've been saying the same thing all year . We could use Gore too
