They have always had an issue with the Marlins. Something about that team always leaves them looking snake bitten.
Perhaps we are simply being reminded that this is a team in transition and there is still a lot of work for Taboni and Butera to do. Let's just be grateful it's far better than the last few years.
In 2025, the Nats were 6-7 vs the Marlins. In 2024 11-2, in 2023 2-11. In 2022 4-15, in 2021 11-8. A mixed bag, but the losing seasons probably stand out more in our mortified minds. It just doesn’t seem right to lose to the Marlins.
They tease us, then say, “don’t believe the hype, it’s a sequel.” Extra points to whoever identifies the song from which that came….without looking it up. 😂
The only Nats player that I found insulting were the ones that were jerks, like Elijah Duke ans Jonathan Papelbon. Joe Beimel and Ryan Church could also be in that catergory. I'm sure there are others if I thought about it. There have been many players who struggled to perform since 2005, but I rooted for most of them if they were wearing the Nats uniform, even Nook Logan. But that is a long list over the years. GO NATS!!
Last two games seem to be a regression back to April. May was fun while it lasted. Playing GM, I would swap out at least Vivas, Henry, and Parker/Lovelady. None are producing. Same with Chapparo.
Last season they had a winning month of May as well and then the bottom fell out in June. Let’s hope this is not a repeat. Personally, I don’t think it is….just more woe is home mystery.
Really dumb decision by Parker; no one was covering first. he may have an anxiety disorder when it comes to defense. Either that or he’s not prepared mentally to know the situation and the play is at home
Might be time to swap out a pitcher (guess who I have in mind?) for another position player. Blake clearly was constrained tonight by a lack of bodies, witness Ruiz pinch running on third for Millas with one out and when speed would make a sac fly more doable. Tena in right for the second time in his career further indication needed more options. Turns out neither proved a problem, but especially having KR run for Millas so as not to burn another player a real indictment of available options (not of Blake).
There are a few others too, but didn’t want to be too much of a Negative Nancy (and I don’t say that in a pejorative way about the name “Nancy”, having both a mother and daughter with that name…)
He swapped catcher for catcher instead of burning a pitch runner. I'm sure he thought at least someone would come through at the plate. Unfortunately, that was not the case last night when a couple hit might have changed the outcome.
Fortunately, managers and GM’s judge more slowly than fans like me, but, I think Parker’s time as a National and perhaps an MLB pitcher are coming to an end. Being left-handed may be the only factor that saves his career.
Some people might look at Jorbit Vivas being 0-25 with RISP and say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a change. But law of averages says he’s due.
Well once again this team shows how little they care about playing well at home. Butera's rookie experience has been on FULL display the last two games.
What amazes me is that if the Nats were playing to the record that was predicted before the season, I'd be like, oh well. But since they are playing way above, a loss to the fish stinks like a week old sardine than didnt make it into the can.
All that good work against the best teams in baseball just to faceplant against the Marlins AGAIN
Ironic, isn't it? They seem to rise to the occasion for a "challenge", but sink like a stone when there isn't one.
pretty strange

Not always - things were the other way around years ago, but, yep, now the Marlins seem to be the Nats’ nemeses.

As soon as Mitchell Parker came in, I knew we lost this game.
Get him off my baseball team. He’s an insult to this fanbase.

I drew the line at Nook; I called him "no look Nook."
What was he thinking!! What was he doing!!
He ought to add something to his will about donating his brain to baseball research:))
I wouldn't go that far!
was in the tarps off section tonight. so bummed we didn’t get the epic ending we deserve. i absolutely love my fellow nats fans though
Seemed like you guys made a lot of noise
my voice hasn’t been this hoarse since i was at a scottish soccer match
You guys did great work out there, deserved better

Producing a lot of acid reflux here.

Get rid of Vivas. And why didn’t Butera remove Mikolas when he allowed four runs in an inning?
Because he retired 10 of the next 11 batters he faced.
Really dumb decision by Parker; no one was covering first. he may have an anxiety disorder when it comes to defense. Either that or he’s not prepared mentally to know the situation and the play is at home
I think you are right, he has a problem.
Parker has always been hopeless on defense. Looks like a mental issue to me, coupled with possibly a below average baseball IQ.
Worst fielding pitcher I've ever seen
As Kurt Vonnegut wrote, “and so it goes”

Just one?

Basically my point. With a longer bench of position players, wouldn’t have to put Kiebert in to try to chug home on a sac fly…
Bring up House and Weimer.
Bye bye Vivas, Mitchell, Mikolas.
Andres no help.
Failing as a team with RISP.
TENA floundering
Totally agree. Bring back House and Wiener and send Vivas to AAA or less.
The play was to home. Called the homer on. The next batter .
The fielding foibles by Parker are beyond laughable.
Talked about this when he first came up. He was known for it!
So, this is a true start for Alvarez tomorrow? No opener like last time?
I'll be there at the Park tomorrow to (fingers crossed) see them salvage one.

“We’ll always have Osaka”
“Here’s squinting at you, kid.”

well they lost,BUT i got on the Jumbotron in my Nats Chat shirt! Loved the tarps off e vitement again
Was that you? I noticed it, but couldn't take a photo in time! Thanks for repping the podcast!

Did Butera’s hat get bigger? Or did he just get a haircut? 😎
PFP in the pregame and Parker makes that play in the ninth! the look on Butera's face said it all.

GO NATS! GET A CURLY W THIS AFTERNOON!!
