Thank goodness they avoided the most painful loss of the season. They came through in a must win game and it was their blue chip players (CJ, JW, DC, LG, and Brady)! They have to improve the BPP - Krook CAN NOT be on the field.
I love how CJ and James were basically going homer for homer.
This game felt like it was over until Krook started Krooking.
I also like how Ford seems like a vet behind the plate. Stole strikes and called a good game. Marte getting caught looking for strike 3 was especially delicious.
And it’s a pleasant surprise, given his rough start in AAA.
I love how the front office is making these former 1st-rounders earn the right to play in the bigs. Nobody cares about your draft status if you don’t perform.
Ford, Crews, and House all look like they put their time in the minors to good use.

As I child back in 1962 I actually saw the only game in which one pitcher struck out more guys than that. Tom Cheney struck out 21 over 16 innings (you read that right) against the Orioles.
How my dad and I happened to be going to a game in Baltimore I'll never know, but we did. Stayed right to the end, which happened only moments before a city curfew (!) would have suspended play.
Then we got lost on the way home, I fell asleep, and I don't know when we got home but I'll bet my mom was not amused. This was back before cell phones, children.
I’ll amend my statement. I hope Max gets a great ovation, get pulled after 4 solid innings, then we destroy their relievers. That way we can sign Max for the stretch run 😜
Max tomorrow! I can go tues and wed but not tomorrow. I so want to join that ovation and wear my World Series Scherzer jersey but not meant to be. He deserves a long ovation guys. Make him feel like he’s home. Then light up their relievers. And it’s OK to hit a couple solo shots off of Max, that will make him feel at home as well.
Let’s multitask. Give him the ovation he deserves and then make it so loud and last so long it rattles him and throws him off his game. Video board could have a really long tribute and put it on a loop. Just sayin’😁.

I heard today that the Nats could get a draft pick after the second round is complete (a top 70 or so pick) if Foster leaves a free agent. Maybe there is hope he won’t be traded?

Amen! I went to Jordan Z’s return to Nats park in 2016 specifically to cheer for him, and Max struck out 20 Tigers
I got stuck in horrendous traffic, got disgusted and turned around and went home.
Watched it all on TV, but jeez.
