Super cute to see Lile’s mom and dad leading a special cheering section from Louisville for him. Alexa interviewed his parents mid-game, after a monster night at the plate.
Always nice to win a game that Mikolas starts. He did okay for 3 innings keeping the ball down and not walking anyone. Not great but baby steps in a ballpark that might of been trouble for him. Lile looked good and Gracia is en fuego!
Well the season is over. As usual, the Nats have been mathematically eliminated from going 19-31 and hence lost any chance of getting to and winning the World Series. Same ol’ Nats. I suppose there is always next year?
Question though, how long do they leave YoYo in Rochester? Had 3 hits and 2 rbi's tonight. If Louie continues to hit make him your DH or put him back at 2nd. I like Nunez but his offensive numbers will never be strong. Morales should be our starting first baseman, period.
Yoyo Morales has put up nice numbers at Triple-A: .325/.421/.528. So you would think they'd love to add a right-handed bat like that to their right-handed-lacking lineup. But is he going to play first base over Curtis Mead? Third base over Brady House? DH over the revolving door there? That's the question. As well as: Does this front office view Morales (who they inherited) as a potential long-term piece or not? If he keeps this up, they'll be forced to call him up at some point. But I don't necessarily get the sense they view him as a long-term answer.
I'll be interested to see how they fare against Nick Lodolo. Faced him twice last season: in August he pitched a complete game shutout at Nats Park, but gave up 6 runs in 5.1 innings at GABP last May.
Watched it on MASN. That game was one of the most lackluster performances I'd seen by a team in a long time. They made him look like Sandy Koufax out there.

Nice win!
Do you know what inning the interview was? I was flying and missed most of the game but would love to go back and watch the interview.
I don’t but it was about 8:35pm. I screenshotted it and sent it to my son. Probably between 6th and 7th, I think the Reds were batting
TY!
Found it and watched, thank you! It was great to hear how proud they are and how much they love him.
Bang zoom go the Nats! That was fun!!
A curly W is in the books!
The Nats have won 5 of the last 6 games Mikolas has pitched in: staff Ace
😝
He should pitch every other day.

Always nice to take the series opener on the road, especially with double digits in runs! I'm ready to get greedy and look for a series sweep!
GO NATS!!
22-22 ❤️
Awesome to see Lile get going, and where does Mark get his 5 Hr's /game/ballpark data? His interns are doing wonderful work!
I do believe he handles the research himself
You know . . . the "interns"
Yeah, he is a professional sports writer, and a darned good one
In this case, Mark said in the game thread the info came from Nats PR. https://natsjournal.com/p/game-42-nats-at-reds/comment/258117056

The Mets can still get there though if they go 3-6.😊
This takes some of sting out from those two bad regression losses in Miami. Now hope for the sweep and a long desired return to .500.
Yes, those losses were tough to deal with, as a fan.
This game was a joy to watch!
Hey DCNats, did you watch the game at all?
Such a fun game! Mark when is Josiah Gray coming back?
Fun to watch

Traditional offensive stats don’t measure Nasim’s value. Mark and Al discussed it on Nats Chat. Time Stamp 30:00

Great question! What more does he have to do?
From Mark's recent Q&A:

Glad Brady got to join in the hit parade after his less than inspiring infield play earlier.

But those were different Nats teams.
The complete game sounded really familiar on Lodolo. Pulled out my scorebook and, yeah, I was there for that one.
