I agree with that except for Griffin being slightly less than his usual awesome - enough to give up 3 runs - the same amount given up last night. But he got the run support.
More on Denard. I don’t know what he does with his time regularly, but really appreciate how smoothly and confidently he has slid into the commentator role. He is a a natural and if I didn’t know better, would think he has been in the role all season. Would like to think there would be a possibility he could take over the role next season.
Fun game to watch on TV. Might have been even more fun if we had not BOTH forgotten we had a game today until about the fifth inning. It's been a crazy week for us; we're moving this coming Monday so the last 2 weeks have been packing and all that kind of distracting garbage. We'll be back on Tuesday against the Blue Jays, assuming we don't both fall asleep at the switch...
Thanks! We have an organizer working with us, which we really need because we're downsizing, moving to smaller digs and have to separate out what we want to keep and what we need to get rid of.
But it's been a hectic week; Monday is moving day.
I tossed so much stuff during my last move, and I STILL have too much! It seems like I am constantly "culling", using the "Do you use it? Does it bring you joy?" method. Slow process, but it has to be done.
Potomac Yards, so really not very far from where we are now. Very nice senior citizens Independent living place called The Riviera. Just a block from the Metro, so we might start taking the train to the park for a couple of bucks instead of paying $30 per game at the parking lot we've been staying at for years.
From where I live (Gaithersburg, MD) the round trip, in rush hour is 3-4 hours plus parking. So I almost never go to games. But I see far more on my TV than I would from the stands.
More than weep . It I'll tell me that the Lerners have no intention of ever spending money on this team and all of our joy the 1st half of this season was in vain . I
Don't think they'll spend ever and should sell the team asap
"Former Twins players Glen Perkins, Trevor Plouffe, Denard Span, Paul Molitor, who also managed the Twins, will also work as analysts in the booth with Provus. All of them have worked in the booth with Provus before."
So the Twins have a rotating analyst chair, which must give him time to come up to DC. I learned elsewhere that he lives in Tampa.
Big big win. Whatever happens these next few weeks, Butera and Toboni have certainly made this team entertaining. Go Nats!
So glad to see the team deliver for a great crowd and Foster Griffin. Complete team victory.
With all the great offense we’ve witnessed regularly this season?
one thing we don’t see all the time is an all-around totally “crisp” ball game. We saw:
-stellar defensively✅
-some timely ducks-on-the-pond extra base hits✅
-LIGHTS OUT *bullpen pitching* for 2 1/3 innings. 😲
Let’s try and do it again Sunday!
Mark, what’s your best guess on what will happen with Griffen?
The bottom line difference between last night and today? The Nats offense scored 5 runs instead of 2. As goes the offense, so goes the Nats.
They looked different today and different in this case means better.

Over 6+ innings by himself and never lost control of the game. They were on the edge of disaster last night.
I agree, but the bottom line is 3 runs is 3 runs.
This was a good game to watch; the boys showed how much they want a WC slot at the end of this season!

I thought Denard works the broadcast booth for the Twins...
No wonder he is so good!

Oh, no! Guess you had a few other things on your mind. :-)
Good luck with the move! Hope it goes as smoothly as possible!

That is really difficult but my Mom was happy once she settled into her smaller space.
Every time I take a borrowed pickup truck 🛻 to the landfill, someone comes behind me and empties 2 truckloads into my basement!
Where to??

Young players just having fun and winning above expectations. Couldn't be happier for them and the dedicated fans too
Won’t Griffin have one more start before the deadline?
Even if the schedule would allow (haven't checked) wouldn't the team shut him down if they've got something in the works?
Thank God it was Fosterday! A throw back in many many ways, including pitching to a number to get the W!
Team Resiliency does it again!!
It will make me weep if, come Aug 4th, Griffin and Abrams are playing elsewhere….but, for now, just going to enjoy the win.
It'll make me

Okay, here's the poop on Denard, from si.com:

Believe he did some games for us last season, down in Miami. Great guy
I say we keep stacking CURLY Ws for another month+ starting tomorrow afternoon!
GO NATS!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
That bullpen is "lights out," "fire up the cigar," "put the steaks on the grill" quality right now.
I love how much of a gamer Griffin is. You could see how annoyed he was that he didn’t finish the 7th.
Good win! But Mikolas needs to come through tomorrow. And the boys can’t overlook the Blue Jays.
