I’m a Nats fan who lives in Baltimore. I always make sure I attend at least one game at each end of the Beltway series, so I was at Camden Yards today.
My son, an Orioles fan, is disappointed. So was most of the rest of my section.
😂😂😂
I LOVE it. Thought Parker might blow the game, but they held on.
What a satisfying victory. Crews looked great in right field, just attacking the ball and making sharp throws in. And what can you say about LOOOOIIIEEE?!?! What a monster series and a monster June - and the month isn’t even over yet…
Sucks that it looks Parker may be going under the scalpel. A guy that clearly has potential, just too much swinging between inconsistency. I still think about his courageous spot start debut against the Dodgers. Never good to see such a massive dip in fastball speed, and grimacing the entire way to the clubhouse
Luis Garcia really has emerged. After years of frustration in the field mixed with potential at the plate - he now has stepped forward as a leader of the team with a combo of power and timely hitting AND savvy play at first. Credit to him and the coaching staff for bringing out the best in his game.
I look closely but I still don’t understand how he hits home runs. It looks like he just pokes the bat at the ball and it goes out. Tremendous hand eye coordination to put perfect backspin on the ball.
Sad to see Parker succumb to a likely surgery and long term rehab stint. You got to believe he was just trying to overthrow to avoid another dismal showing in relief. Prayers for a better diagnosis and full recovery.
Solid win and creds to PJ for a solid closing and save.
OMG what can be said about LGjr!!!! The young man is on a mission and to put and exclamation point on his weekend…114MPH rope 413ft (per Statcast) to Utah St HR. Player of the week, player of the month and an invite to the ASG should be the headlines coming up. He may not be the most elegant 1B but he get it done and kudos to him for being willing to move. He is becoming that quintessential power hitting 1B the Nats have looking for and along he was hiding at 2B🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wonder if Parker has been having injury symptoms or if this just came on all at once. He once looked like a part of a future rotation. Will be a long lonely road back if he is getting major surgery with no future guaranteed…. On Father’s Day weekend he performed well and his father was with him, that should be a good memory to hold onto.
This is exactly why I’ve been saying Poulin should be trusted for more than three outs. He is a veteran, and Butera treated him like one today. Poulin threw a clean eighth, went back out for the ninth, and finished it with a six out save. Butera also didn’t play pure matchup baseball; he trusted the pitcher who was getting outs. Lovelady did his job too, and for one day the bullpen actually got it done.
The story of the game is still Luis García Jr. though. Eleven homers in June and six in six games is not just a hot streak; that is putting the team on your back and carrying them.
Good point on Poulin. If Butera is using him as a multi-inning opener, it means two things, by default:
1. He can pitch multiple innings (clearly).
2. He’s a leverage arm.
In my opinion, the starters need to…actually start the games. The offense is good enough to overcome an early deficit. To me, a late blown lead is WAY harder to overcome because the team starts to run out of outs…and confidence.
Let Poulin help close games instead of opening them.
Totally agree. Let’s see if Poulin and Lord can be Craig Stamen? It would be great, however, if we could add a closer. What would it take to get Delvin Williams. Lower stress environment than NYC may work wonders for him
Trevor was “just working on stuff.”
Serving up BP…

Anyone with a pulse right now is a welcome sight. .
Great win today. But Trevor is not 24.
Definitely not!
Fun day at Camden Yards! Louie!! What reliance. I think Parker may really be hurt. His velo dropped 5 mph on his last pitch before he was taken out.

Mark posted he had elbow pain his last few pitches, so he’s likely getting an MRI.
Oof. Sounds like TJ may be knocking. Hopefully not.
So good to see them win the series after the demoralizing series against the Phillies.
"Shipping up to Boston..."
I see what you did there. 😂

Crews is coming around, isn't he? Great development.

Series win!

Great way to come back and win the series! Let's have a CURLY W PARTY IN BOSTON!!
Glad to see Poulin perform as well at the end of the game as he has done as the opener. Hope he has found something he can build from here.

Mark —once he get diagnosed they will know if it was an acute injury or a chronic building strain injury.

I'd say let him do both based on need.

Parker took a shot at making it close.
At least give him credit for the perfect 6th. That’s probably the inning broke him
And was a strike away (sound familiar?) in the 7th from another perfect inning before things fell apart...

A needed series win. I think this also means we win the season against the Oreos 4 games to 2.
Yes, that's correct! A particularly satisfying season series win too.
