Came to the game feeling good. Leaving the game feeling great. How awesome is this.

Nasim dropping the word playoffs in the postgame🔥

Worth noting that he said "when", not "if"

Mead mentioned October in his postgame interview as well!

Great defense, especially double play in 9th, to crush any KC comeback attempt

This is what good defense does, shut the opponent down.

It happened again! I asked for 6 - 8+ runs from the offense, and they delivered 6! Asked for decent pitching, and got that for the most part. And most importantly, A CURLY W!! Guess what I am asking for tomorrow afternoon?!? AND 🧹🧹🧹

GO NATS!!

The fact that Nunez saved the game with almost the same play that he botched last night was his greatest moment and I am well aware of how productive he was tonight. Mead is impressing and glad Schultz and Varland overcame their demons - sure they both had some sleepless nights since the meltdown.

Another series win!!!

Guessing many of you watched the TV postgame as well. I liked how Alexa took the mention of October and went with it from there. We are all thinking it at this point and I for one am glad it is out there as a goal - no matter what ends up happening. And BTW, when will we hear that Foster has been signed to an extension?

Man, these guys come to play every single time! It's so fun! Love their Natitude and energy.

I was as happy to see Lane Thomas homer back at Nats Park as I was glad it didn’t affect the outcome. Miss him and his cannon arm in right. I know we had too many outfielders but I wish we could have built around him. Let’s hope we build around CJ and Wood rather than trade them.

Mark's avatar

He is a good guy. Happy for him being back in a lineup.

100%. Several rent-a-players became personal favs, (Bell, Call etc.) only to be flipped. Cautious now to love any Nat—how long will they be here? I know it is a different time, but still . . .

I never understood this clearly popular take. Thomas is good dude who had some nice stretches but he is not a great player and it was quite wise to trade him at his peak. In RF, yeah, he's got a good arm but his routes are undisputably terrible. Great value acquisition by Rizzo but would not make the cut on the '26 Nationals team.

Hope Zack Littell is sharp tomorrow. His last outing was really short, and the bullpen has been taxed the last two games, so I’m guessing we’ll see Parker at some point too. The bats may need to be ready again.

In other Nats news, D.J. Herz pitched 2.2 innings for Fredericksburg: 4 hits, 1 run and 3 Ks. From the highlights, he looked healthy.

It will be a real test. He threw an absurd number of pitches with almost no success after being real solid. Have no idea what to expect tomorrow.

A year ago, that double-play ball would have been a base hit up the middle. SO glad that Nunez is out there every day. His defense is so good that you can almost excuse the weak bat.

Mark's avatar

And he was able to pull off that over the should catch. Those have an extremely low probability of an IF catching it…

McMerc7MHDC's avatar

Yeah, his range and hands are amazing. And he does juuust enough on offense that he’s not a total liability.

I feel fully entertained by this evening’s episode. Milly and Nooner were as effective as Crews, Abrams, or Lile which honestly is so fun!

I think Charlie and Dave said Andrés Chaparro has five pinch hit walks this year, which is kind of crazy. He’s basically become a pinch walker.

He’s batting only .172, but his OBP is .368, so he’s still finding ways to help. As they said in Moneyball: “Do I care how they get on base?”

His patience and the run he scored in front of Mead’s homer gave the Nats a cushion they definitely needed in the ninth.

He did what was needed but honestly I

can’t believe that we can’t do better.

Tegwar's avatar

He does know the strike zone. He hasn’t played much, and his defense is pretty good compared to García.

I get wanting more offense there, but I think the other first basemen in the minors are still developing, and the organization probably wants them playing every day instead of sitting on the bench in D.C.

DaveTheSwede's avatar

In the Post game interview, Alexa said that Nunez was the first player in franchise history to have two triples and two walks in a game.

gonatsgo1's avatar

Tied a record with 7 other Nats who had 2 triples in a game. Lile was the last. The first was...get this...Bernie Castro.

Could win bar bets all night with that one!
