Jake Irvin legacy game

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

Such an encouraging outing. I hope this means that he has truly turned a corner, being able to find what works in-game and using it to his advantage.

Alexa Datt just shared that Jake Irvin has a 2.67 ERA in 13 games pitched in cool weather (63 degrees and below if I heard correctly). If I’m a cold weather outdoor city, I want to add him to the staff.

Further proof he’s a Minnesota guy through and through

Saw him pitch on a damp, chilly day in Pittsburgh last April. He gave up 3 hits over 7 scoreless innings. I definitely believe in Cool Hand Jake!

Specifically, Parker. How does he get so many chances?

Have you seen the other players in our BP? When he first came up he threw strikes but that player disappeared.

No kidding! It's the walks that get me. His (in)ability to throw strikes: is it will or inability? I don't know. Just asking. At this point, the Nats need a 3-4 run to be safe.

Irvin pitched very well. Getting more innings from the starters is exactly what this team needs, because once the bullpen comes in, it’s always an adventure.

I do wonder what Irvin said, that got him pulled in the 6th. I would’ve let him try to finish the inning unless he told them he was tired or they saw something concerning.

The Nats scoring 6 runs on only 6 hits and no homers that's pretty good, but getting 10 walks helps . This time it was the White Sox who burst into flames at the end instead of the Nats.

Would someone tell Brady House to stop going to his crotch. Just saying:

A few years ago when Harrison Bader was still with the Cardinals, he used a blood red mouth guard which he kept pushing off his teeth and pursing it between his lips, every damned pitch.

Honest to your deity of choice, he looked like one giant hemorrhoid.

Chaparro optioned. This player for a day nonsense just foments distrust and discontentment.

If they're being less than honest with the players about their intentions, maybe so. However, if they're being clear about making maximum use of the entire 40-man roster, then probably not.

Most of the guys seem to be appreciative of being able to get a shot here and there.

I'm sure the players know the deal when they are called up; that it's for a specific game/purpose.
