I had a great view of it from right behind the Nats dugout. He made a great pitch! An All Star made an All Star play, with a little Coors Field assistance
I know first things first, but since Mark mentioned the possibility in his recap I for one hope Scherzer does pitch at Nats Park Monday or Tuesday — so the boys can give him reason to follow his former stablemate Verlander into retirement…And since Max has an ERA of 10.23 and WHIP of 1.70 in 6 starts/22 innings pitched this season (before going on the IL) I think we have a real chance to do it
Think we can Rent-A-Max? We talk about "renting players" as we get to the trade deadline. How about renting Max for one game as a Nat and then giving him back? That should fill some seats in the park. Otherwise it will be great to see Max but a little difficult to pull for him.
My bright idea (I have a LOT of them) is to sign Max in the off season as rather an emergency starter but mostly as a presence/vet to help the youngsters learn how to pitch. He still is chasing rings and $$ though, but I keep hoping at some point the Nats may be best/only option for both for him🤞🏻🤞🏻I mean, who would any of us rather have as our veteran starter: Max or Miles (or Zach for that matter)? I keep thinking that maybe even Mark Lerner, as an homage to his dad if nothing else, will loosen the purse strings for such a signing….
Two different references on TV and radio tonight to Wood dealing with something injury wise. Radio in reference to a lower back issue cutting down on his steals, TV with Franny casting concern on Wood not scoring from second on a Garcia single to center. Would love to hear more about this from Mark if there's any there there!
Ugh. The boys were sloppy tonight and it bit them. That sequence where Mead and Garcia gave away outs comes to mind.
Well…win the rubber match tomorrow and get the heck out of Dodge. A 4-2 road trip isn’t great, but it would still mean 2 series wins.
The casual throw from Mead on that play was perplexing
This “opener” project by Butera is tiring. It's not working. Why does he keep doing it? Mikolas is a veteran pitcher. Why not just let him start?
Statistically, he’s actually worse as a starter than he is when he has an opener.
Did you happen to watch the games that he actually started? They were not pretty...
I can’t even blame Beeter for the home run. How the hell did Hunter Goodman get to that?
The baserunning mistakes cost us. But CJ Abrams is BACK.
Let’s finish the road trip 4-2 tomorrow.

Just leaving the game. Had a great time!
Too many mistakes in the field and on the bases tonight, and still only lost by 1.
Felt like 2025 Davey ball tonight
Nationals’ a bona fide .500 team, not bad, not good. $🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌 they finish 81-81.

I think that’s realistic.
