Despite the limited work last year, he has earned it, but it is fortunate that he is also performing well in ST to help add credibility to the announcement.

Well deserved

After all that he has been through, absolutely!

That’s great news. He certainly has all the potential to be a number 1. Now he sets out about trying to achieve it.

It’s great to see someone come back with so many quality pitchers having gone broken and now maybe this signals an end the constant march to Tommy John

The only thing I don't like is that he earned service time while on the DL. From his perspective, it's understandable, but the Nats will only get 4 years of his service before he hits free agency.

Seriously Mark😂. Just piggy back the gam line ups on the Cavalli starter article? I hope this doesn’t become a thing during the season lol. Just Kidding😋

Hope James Wood gets back on track.

Well, he didn't strike out in his first AB.

It’s worrisome. Normally, no one would care about ST performance. In JW’s case it dates back far too long. Crews too. The thought of both fizzling out is too much for the average Nats fan to endure.

Who’s o first? More importantly Who’s in Left field and Right field is mighty crowded!

I noticed that, figured the idea was to give Lile a little help! MLB gameday says that only Wood's in right & Lile's in left.

I am at work, so for now: YAY!! 🎉🎊✨️

Martin Niland's avatar

What are the chances of Lile getting significant at-bats at DH this season?

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

The Cardinals' play-by-play radio guy says Cavalli looked pretty good, despite having hit two (left-handed) batters.

Final line: 3 scoreless & hitless IP, 40 p (27 strikes), 1BB, 2K.

any update of Jacob Young? With no spring ABs yet, is he likely to go out on rehab to start the season?

Susan H aka pitchingfan's avatar

Jessica Camerato reported this yesterday: "Jacob Young (right wrist contusion) started swinging today. He’s still day to day, with the Nationals goal of making sure he’s 100% healthy for Opening Day."

So far this Spring Training has felt better and with a positive vibe that has been so missing for years now

Mellotron's avatar

Well, we've certainly earned it.

Cavalli+Lord goood

Be careful not to drink the Kool-Aid. Pitching been good; hitting not so much. I'm old enough to remember the expansion Senators always looking good in the spring.
