"This just felt different"
The Nationals were helpless at the plate against Jacob Misiorowski, who carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before hurting his hamstring
The Nationals have faced Paul Skenes this season. They’ve faced Andrew Painter, Tyler Glasnow, Logan Webb and Clay Holmes.
Tough assignments, all of them. But nothing that could compare to what they were up against tonight in Jacob Misiorowski.
“We’ve faced some No. 1’s, and I think we’ve had somewhat of some success against them,” manager Blake Butera said. “This just felt different.”
It felt different. It looked different. It was different. What Misiorowski did over 5 1/3 hitless innings was jaw-dropping stuff. His fastball averaged 101 mph, topping out at 103 mph. He threw one slider 98 mph. He threw one changeup 94 mph. And he threw most everything within the vicinity of the plate.
The Nationals, who wound up losing 6-1 to the Brewers, knew they had no chance against the young flamethrower. Their only hope was to wait him out until he departed, which unfortunately he did sooner than planned due to a right hamstring cramp with one out in the sixth, with his no-hit bid intact.
