Wood going on IL with mild oblique strain, Pinckney getting called up
The Nationals are placing James Wood on the 10-day IL for the first time in his MLB career and promoting outfielder Andrew Pinckney from Triple-A
PHILADELPHIA – James Wood is going on the IL for the first time in his MLB career, but the Nationals are hopeful their All-Star’s time off the active roster will be minimal.
The Nats are placing Wood on the 10-day IL before tonight’s game against the Phillies with what manager Blake Butera described as a “subtle, mild” left oblique strain, an injury suffered on the final swing of his seventh-inning at-bat Monday night.
Outfielder Andrew Pinckney is currently on his way to Citizens Bank Park from nearby Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he was playing with Triple-A Rochester, and will be called up to make his MLB debut this evening.
