Game 125: Nats at Mets
The Nationals need more offense tonight at Citi Field, not to mention quality work from Brad Lord and the rest of the bullpen
NEW YORK – Good afternoon from Citi Field, where the Nationals today are throwing another bullpen game, with Brad Lord again the first man on the mound. At some point, if things go according to plan, we won’t actually consider this a bullpen game because Lord will have been fully stretched out as a starter. But we’re not quite there yet, with Lord likely limited to four innings or so, no matter how effective he is.
Offensively, Blake Butera would love to get more production against Sean Manaea than he got Friday night against Robert Stock. The Nats did not record an extra-base hit during that game, and they only went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Neither of those is a good path toward success.
It’s a right-handed-heavy lineup against Manaea, with Dylan Crews leading off, Andrés Chaparro batting second, Brady House batting third and Andrew Pinckney getting the start in left field.
