I'd imagine Young will be on IL with a broken or bruised rib but if that hadn't happened Wiemer would have been odd man out unless they decided to part ways with Vivas
My speculation is that they want to see more of Garcia at first as the platoon against righties and want Morales to get as many reps as he can in what for the Nats remains just a building year… As witness the play by Luis just now (the complete whiff on the grounder) I’ve seen more than enough of him….
Maybe they're working toward a trade involving JY? Seems like a very crowded outfield (Wood and Lile are every day locks and that's what they see/hope for Crews. JY's value may be as good as it gets right now (setting aside possible IL stint). Unlikely tho that they would have JY in lineup if anything was close. And they probably want to see how well Crews plays. Definitely need to upgrade the pitching.
Huge Nats’ fan; part of full season ticket group ‘07-‘21. But I’ve allowed myself (after 25 years residing in Seattle) to retain the Mariners as my “AL team”.
Fingers crossed Crews doesn’t become Nats’ version of Jarred Kelenic.…(ck Wikipedia); pulling for him to break through and stay up with the big club.
Like the move, and may be very timely if JY out of action for any extended time

Parting ways with Vivas wouldn't hurt the team much.
Hope for a speedy recovery for Young but it will be interesting to see if Crews can take advantage.
Agreed. Crews should (in theory) be a toolsier version of JY.
I have my doubts about Crews.
It looks like this move was made before JY got hurt. Guess we'll find out the corresponding move this evening or tomorrow.
And Y. Morales is wondering, "What do I have to do?"

I looked the other day and Yo Yo Morales isn't on the 40 man roster so it would force the Nat's to make a move there too.
As others have said, this must have been in the works but given the JY situation the timing couldn't be better.
Seems like they also pushed Seaver King up to Triple A from Harrisburg?
Yep.
He earned it. It may be a start of a few more moves.
Which makes me think someone is getting DFA'd if Young doesn't go on the IL.
Good for him. Sounds like he handled his demotion the right way. Hopefully he performs well. I’m sure Nats Park will show him love.
I wonder if Franny and Dan (will be allowed to) comment on the story. It isn’t confirmed by the Nats yet is it?

Mark, was Crews in the minors long enough, to add another year of team control?
